“Don’t Leave (When Winter Comes)“ – [DOWNLOAD]

The latest single from the upcoming CunninLynguists’ release Strange Journey Volume One, “Don’t Leave (When Winter Comes)“ is produced by Kno and features Slug of Atmosphere. True testaments to the indie grind, QN5 and Rhymesayers combine to reflect on the separation that being an indie artist can bring. Photography by Elisabeth Colpaert.

This song will be available as a limited edition 7″ vinyl pressing by Bad Taste Records, which will also include the Strange Journey Volume One track entitled “Nothing But Strangeness” f. Sweden’s Looptroop Rockers as well as Australia’s Hilltop Hoods. Pre-orders for this item can be found HERE.

Respectively entitled Strange Journey Volume One and Strange Journey Volume Two, both full-length discs will be interconnected efforts dropped within months of each other and built around the concept of touring and travel. They feature guest spots from Killer Mike, Nappy Roots, Guilty Simpson, J-Zone, Mac Lethal and more.

The Strange Journey Euro Tour will coincide with the release of Volume One while the Strange Journey North American Tour will coincide with the fall release of Volume Two.

I am so tempted to download this now, but when I preorderedy copy I promised myself that I wouldn’t listen to any of the leaks (other th.an Never Come Down) because I know I’ll end up playing it so much that when my physical copy of the album comes I’ll probably end up skipping it. Nonetheless, I’ll be buying the single on Friday when I get paid.

I can’t wait to here the album in it’s entirety at extremely loud volumes.

No lie: When I heard you guys had features from the great Khujo Goodie and best rapper alive candidate Killer Mike on this record, I DIED. No fuckin’ joke. I clicked the Myspace link, saw the names, and died of happiness. Then I came back to life and listened to “Never Come Down” 500 times in a row.

Speaking of best rappers alive, if y’all are already down with the RSE, PUT BROTHER ALI ON SOME KNO BEATS GODDAMNIT. Matter fact, forcibly drag Tonedeff into the studio with him and don’t let them out ‘til they’ve made some of the greatest hip-hop music ever done. It’s not like they would have to do anything much different from what they usually do to accomplish that.

And if Rhymesayers is gonna be fucking with Freeway for that Jake One album, maybe we can get some magic out of that connection too? State Prop chain gang ain’t nuttin’ ta fuck wit’.

What’s good with that one Lil’ Scrappy cut Kno did? I vote we force all the best Southern rappers to do tons of songs with Kno beats. Z-Ro! Juvenile! Devin The Dude! Young Bleed! David Banner! 8Ball & MJG! MOTHERFUCKING SCARFACE! Scarface is the GOAT as far as I’m concerned, and no one– NO ONE– would do quite so much justice to one of Kno’s endless supply of heavenly beats. Just thinking about ‘Face waxing meaningful over “The Gates” beat makes me cry. MAKES ME CRY I TELL YOU.

Give me five days and I will phone Bun B and commit him to doing at least three Kno songs. Bun B makes songs with everybody, and he is one of the GOAT rappers. And I bet you he is already a huge fan.

If I were an A&R, I would sign Playboy Tre and pay him to make six full-length albums of all Kno beats, featuring guest appearances by every great Southern rapper ever, plus Ghostface. It would be the greatest rap music ever.

Kno should be contracted to produce the first single from the next T.I. album. T.I. is a great rapper. And T.I. wishes he could always spit over beats as amazing as “Hellfire”. I know this to be a fact, because every emcee who ever lived wishes they could do this.

I am convinced that when Cee-Lo Green hears Kno’s beats he will want to rap full-time again. Which as wonderful as Cee-Lo’s singing is, would definitely be a service to rap listeners everywhere. If not to all of humanity.

The first thing Mystikal should do when he gets out of prison is dial Kno’s number. Well, besides hug his family and shit.

I’m writing a paper in which I have to do a song analysis and explain why this is an important song in history. I chose this track for self-evident reasons. But for the analysis I need to do a musical break down, so knowing who it samples would be a big help and give my paper a lot more validity than just saying “it uses a sample.” A little help?
