JMSN - Alone [Kno Remix]

After hitting up CunninLynguists’ producer Kno for an exclusive remix of Maroon 5’s “Goodnight Goodnight” that eventually ended up being cut from their 2008 remix album “Call & Response” due to sample clearance issues, Brandon Phelps at Variable Entertainment, this time with up-and-coming Detroit singer/producer JMSN (pronounced Jameson), reaches out to Kno again for an exclusive re-work of JMSN’s single “Alone”. JMSN’s album “†Priscilla†” drops 1.11.12.

You deserve to be rich off your shit and to get recognition worldwide on a more mainstream scale, for doing exactly what you’re doing. Maybe doing remixes is an easier way to go, rather than creating thematic masterpieces. I love that you do both. P.

-going over the line advice-wise- Maybe a couple of tracks (hits) with Joe Budden could serve both of your careers well. I seem to recall reading something on this forum about something like that being in the works. Without being in the loop at all of who’s currently on everybody’s lips in the USA it seems to me though he made it big some years ago with his album at Def Jam, he, too, doesn’t get enough recognition for his talent. Though he’s still a big name(?).

I feel a Kno/Joe Budden collabo could render success both artistically and economically. And THEN drop Chico And The Man, and win grammys like a mufucka. Should solve the problem of raising recognition for Chico And The Man.

Fantastic remix, Kno.. very atmospheric, the production reminds of The Weeknd’s (awesome) “Thursday” mixtape/album. I like how the rugged drum break being juxtaposed by the airy synth work. I would love for Kno to produce an R&B album.. I think he’d come with something very unique.

Yeah I was getting The Weeknd vibe, which artist came first I wonder? I guess they are kinda from the same area so it could be some other influence. I don’t think it matters cause we need more than one person, I love that late night slow burner shit.

Weeknd is actually pronounced Weakened, I think that’s funny.

Love this! Also really like the original. Both are so haunting. Reminds me of Burial in some ways, the atmospherics and ethereal, melancholy vocal. Can’t make up my mind which I mix I like best though!

As usual, Kno comes with the fire. This beat sounds like it would suit the weeknd… TBH on this track alone this JMSN guy sounds very much like the weeknd. Though not as good.
