[NEWS] QN5 Logo Receives Facelift

We’re currently updating the QN5 website, (because I’m personally sick of looking at the same old ass design everyday) for the new year and beyond and throughout the process, our official logo was tweaked a bit.
Algorythm introduced the typeface on one of the comps he drummed up for the QN5.com redesign, ([peep his work here], he’s a brilliant designer as well as a producer), and it looked so fresh next to the icon that I figured I’d plug it into the full logo – OFFICIALLY. As you can see, it looks sleeker, fresher and baby bluer. Times have changed and classic Arial just looks hella bland in 09.
We also shortened the URL, because I think people know by now that HTTP:///WWW. is a given before any domain name. This used to be an issue back in the day. (Remember when rappers didn’t have myspace pages? More on that later.)
Also, note the curved band that separates the icon from the type. It was formerly just a strip, but now it’s comprised of our 5 officially colors: QN5-Navy through QN5-white. We basically added 2 more shades to our official swatches to round out the spectrum more fully – a reflection of the music.
Take a look at our new MySpace.com/QN5 layout to see the logo facelift in action. You’ll also note that we’ve moved away from the simplistic flat swatches to a more elaborate gradient-style approach to our official colors. This is intended to highlight that this isn’t the same old QN5 you remember from ‘back in the day’. Peep the “PILL” version of the logo from that page:

Cleaner Is Meaner
See, design wise, I’ve always maintained that QN5 be represented in the most clean, efficiently-branded way possible – strong Arial type and simplistic monochromatic swatches. I’m a student of the “less is more” school when it comes to layout so this has carried over into my personal logo as well. This was done to set us apart from the muddy, cluttered graffiti logos and ‘too-much-going-on’ aesthetic that most Hip Hop ‘logos’ seem to subscribe to.
Some examples of the Hip Hop logo aesthetic:

New Deal, New Vibe, New Hip Hop
As we move on to the second phase of the label’s existence, it’s only fitting that we cap off the new attitude, new vibe and new sound with a sleek logo to match. We’ve got a ton of new tricks up our sleeves, and most importantly, an AVALANCHE of new music awaiting you in the coming months. After well over 36+ releases, worldwide touring, national exposure and the development of the most loyal fanbase in all of hip hop – Q009 is looking more and more like the year the term “QN5″ rings more than a bell.
The logo revamp, as Heath’s Joker would say, is “all part of the plan”.

Hollerate!
