Thanksgiving in August

These days almost every rapper and their A&R (momma) has a blog. More often than not the content of these blogs is filled with them complaining about something, usually industry related. I can’t front like I haven’t done my share of bitching. I mean hey, the world is fucked up and full of shit to bitch about. But at the same time there’s a lot that I have to be thankful for. So with that being said I’m going to use this time to say thank you and show some appreciation for a few things.

Being able to see most of the country and the world and perform.

Most people who rhyme never get to spit a verse outside of their zip
code, let alone outside of their city, state or country. I consider
myself blessed to have the opportunities to travel and perform for
people thousands of miles away who came out just to hear what I have to
say.

The success of my first solo LP “whutduzFMstand4?”

While most people measure success by numbers, I measure it on a different scale. The way that my album was recieved by the public was a beautiful thing for me. The press reviews, accolades and fan response touched me deeply (pause) and I just want to say thank you to everybody who supported me on that project and continue to do so.

Artistic Freedom

Being on an indie label is a lot of hard work because absolutely nothing is handed to you on a silver platter. But we endure that hard work to have certain freedoms that artists who are on majors don’t get. So I want to thank Tonedeff for creating this outlet (QN5 Music) for artists like me and our affiliates to be able to express ourselves without creative hindrances. That sort of support is very rare in this industry.

Women

Pffft man, you know what it is.

HipHop Music/Culture

I have no idea where I would be or what I would be doing if it weren’t for hiphop. I didn’t get involved because it was the cool thing to do. As a matter of fact, when I got started it WASN’T cool to do at all, everyone I grew up with was more concerned with riding bikes and playing basketball. Kicking rhymes and doing graffiti is one of the most natural things I’ve ever done and has helped me be expressive in ways that I normally wouldn’t be able to. And I truly appreciate this culture for what it is, despite the current troubles its going through. And I think that anybody who has a chance to participate in any capacity, whether it be rocking crowds at sold out fesitvals or attending a local b-boy workshop, you ought to be thankful and appreciative as well.

I mean think about it, what would the world be like without hiphop?
