QN5 Music is proud to present the music video for “RoxTar” from Kokayi’s critically acclaimed new album, Robots & Dinosaurs. Directed by Donlee Brussel (who also directed Inverse’s “So Far” video), “RoxTar” was shot on location in Orlando, FL and features an appearance by The Rock-afire Explosion band. Yes, THE Rock-afire Explosion band that graced the stages of Showbiz Pizza Places across America in the 1980’s before they became “Chuck E. Cheese’s”. What better way emphasize the soul-less robotic nature of today’s sound?

It was tough keeping this under wraps for as long as we did, but as you can imagine, a lot of prep, time and funds went into this video and we think it shows. Granted, we probably could have shot Kokayi randomly eating Jell-O in front of a Chuck E. Cheese on a Flipcam – but we don’t fuck around. Only the best for the blue schoolers.

Great video….that band gives me the creeps. And Kokayi’s performance is excellent. Two major problems i have with music videos is either the audio not syncing up to the performers mouth movements, or the performer over-enunciating (is that even a word)...for example Brandon Boyd of Incubus, in their videos it looks like he’s trying to swallow his own head - Kokayi did neither of these things. Very professional guys, it was worth the time and $$ in my opinion.

Dope video. Extremely crisp. It definitely gave me a new appreciation for RoxTar, which, admittedly, is one of my least favorite tracks on the album. The band was an incredible touch, too.

I really hope this video works as a promotional tool and gains steam for more people to open up and learn about Kokayi. I’m tired of blank expressions when I mention his album. People need to hear it.

haha I actually dig vimeo too, but it’s more of a business decision to push youtube hits. No one’s really on vimeo and views conk out pretty quickly there. Vimeo also has alot of stupid fees attached to HD uploads and whatnot.
