it was a pleasure meeting all of you on this trip. the show was fuckin amazing, and you guys just made it more so (guess this means to keep in touch, i’ll have to start forum-ing). Hope i see you guys in the future.
so my boyfriend and I were walking down Sunset on Saturday looking for things to do, and we walk by this museum called “Psychiatry: An Industry of Death”. I thought it looked badass because there was a sign out front that said it was about electroshock therapy and lobotomies and how we overmedicate kids for ADHD… and admission was free so Dan and I decide to go in and check it out.
cue creepy guy who is just ITCHING to get us to sign in and take headsets… I stepped out because dwilli called me right then, and dude actually followed us out a couple minutes later to see if we were coming in. I started to have doubts about it but it was really cool inside and really hot outside, so we went back in.
so the museum itself was really well done, there was a big padded room in the beginning with a big movie screen that was basically calling ALL psychiatry and psychology a scam and it was saying in a very creative way that mental illness does not exist…. I think you guys can already see where this is going but I was too dumb to figure it out.
so we walk through the rest of the museum… I didn’t care to listen to any of the other FOURTEEN documentaries but I did look at a lot of the crap they had in there, like weird torture devices and real stuff from the 40s… pretty interesting. There was a ton of BS in it too, basically blaming drugs and shrinks for the deaths of every celebrity ever. we decided we had enough and left. the guy wouldn’t just let us walk out, he told us to fill out this survey that was basically a freaking page of essays, like “what did you learn that you didn’t know before?”, “what disturbed you the most?” and we turned around and looked at it and then decided we wouldn’t be guilt tripped into filling out crap we didn’t want to fill out, so we turned around and said we didn’t feel like it and then gave it back. he got really desperate and tried to get us to sign a petition, alleging that there’s some law somewhere being passed that says all elementary school kids are going to be tested for mental illness without requiring parental consent, and he phrased it all shady, like “if you don’t agree with that we ask that you sign this, and if you do agree with it, then please don’t sign it” like it’s all that black and white. we didn’t even say anything to him, we just looked at each other and left.
so skip to the ending when I get back to the grand old internets and google it…. SURPRISE! It’s a SCIENTOLOGY museum, and I know I’m the only person who didn’t figure that out right away, and trust me I feel like a total loser for it. But at least I can say now that I experienced that craziness, I have totally wanted to stop in the BART station and take the free “stress test”, then laugh at them for being suckers, but I’m too lazy.
hey jill, regardless of how high your thetin levels are, or whether or not xenu is your homeboy, it was still cool to meet you. hope i’ll see you again at some other shows
of course. if you would have introduced yourself to me at the megashow you could have had a whole bag.
sharp park is my favorite course, we’ve gotta play it.
also how was your trip home? probably okay because you were flying southwest, but we wound up in the terminal where a good number of the 20,000 stranded international passengers were trying to get to where they needed to go… it was a madhouse, lines all the way down the sidewalk at freaking 5am. We managed to find the self service line before another 200 people found it so we got checked in in less than an hour, but I think that was a miracle.

That sounds pretty harsh, good to hear you made it on time. LAX I’m assuming? I try and stay away from that hellhole as much as possible, so I flew out of Burbank on Sunday morning. It was really quiet…
As for Sharp Park…sounds good to me but I’ll have to borrow some clubs. We’ll also need like an entire day reserved, ‘cause my average has me hitting like 5 above par every hole, but ya know
I’ve actually rolled through SF via BART regularly since my lady started on her internship in Embarcadero. What district are you staying in?

Embarcadero? I work at 1 market next to the Ferry building, wonder if she’s near me.
