Wink

that song w/ snoop is hot b/c snoop is on it. “dumb it down” is pretty genius. “hip hop saved my life” is another jewel. “little weapon” is another dope concept.

EVERYTHING else is skippp skip skip

You so crazy.
A) The song is hot DESPITE snoop being on it. Oh yeah, I went there!
B) There are very few skippable songs on there.

After only a few days of listening to it, I can confidently put it at #2 behind Dirty Acres on the best albums of the year list.

Sucka!

Haaaaaaaa. That definition + that picture = perfect.

Hi Definition was wack, Go Baby & Gold Watch was mediocre, the rest was excellent smile

The album is very good, really blew me away. Among the best of the year. Very consistent.

So I need someones help. On the song Streets on Fire, is that Lupe singing the “Death
is on the tip of her tongue and dangers at the tip of her fingers. Streets Are On Fire To-Night.

At first I thought it was an old song but on some lyrics site it says its Lupe.

Lupe is very overrated IMO…. I mean, the man can rap - but his music is just so damn boring to me. Just like Little Brother. I just don’t see the x-factor in any of these.
But what do I know?

I haven’t heard the new album but I heard some songs that have been up on youtube (Superstar and Dumb It Down)

A lot of his music just doesn’t make sense to me. It sounds nice, but I either don’t get the metaphor or something.
“The Instrumental” was a good song, I liked that, but “Dumb It Down” and “What It Do”, it sounds like a lot of it is said to rhyme and sound nice, but not all that meaningful to me.

He’s a great storyteller and rapper, but a lot of his music just doesn’t click. Nevertheless, I respect most of his music.

I’ll still be looking forward to the album

This album is hot.

it’s dope. and i like snoop’s appearance.

‘hip hop saved my life’ is sick

This is basically the space I’m in when it comes to Lupe and similar acts.

Because he really DOES make good music, it’s just that people have a tendency to declare that every Lup/Kan song pressed “IS JUS SO MEENINGFUL!!” because it features punchlines and sounds benign (no stereotypically “negative” content).

That said…I’m genuinely like about half the tracks. Wish several were longer. Can’t say I like the album as a whole, but I’m going to give it some time.

Trying to get past how he PLAYED ATCQ at Hip-Hop Honors. Midnight Maurauders redefined hip hop for me in 93 and it was bad enough that he BUTCHERED thier songs but the way he handled it afterwords just about put me on the Fuck Lupe bandwagon. I know it sounds strange, but dissing the legends is one way a dope artist can lose me. I’ve heard good things bout this record, so I might check it out, but I’m kind of apprehensive about supporting this cat.

I must say I disagree wholheartedly.

All I had to do was hear his album once to know it was the best shit bar none this whole year. You could be on that LupYe PharrelSco buhshit during his arrival and even after his first album, but at this point if you’re still gonna hate you gotta come up with something new, cause it simply doesn’t apply. Lupend is the end of it, so you will all be happy when he’s done after 3 super fuckin official albums. Hipster isn’t a word to me, I don’t give a fuck about that shit.

Sorry.

How did he play Tribe? What happened? (He still makes official shit)

Word

I don’t care if he listened to them or not but why the fuck would he do a tribute if he didn’t really care about them? Then he gonna show disrespect by not even knowin the right lyrics.

Shit was real dumb of him, but whatever I’ll give his album a shot when i see it next time.

never said I hated him
and yes I do like his music, but too bad if you can’t take jokes
and just because I think he is a hipster, I must think he’s a bad rapper?
don’t think so

and as to how the guy did slip up BIG TIME this year: he said to the world that he’s never heard ATCQ’s music, then went on about how Q-Tip personally asked him to perform the hip hop honors when he didn’t and topped it off with fucking up the lyrics and performing the song half assed

then he went on to choke a woman at a club a few months after
followed that up with being disrespectful to his audience at his UCI show
not relating that to the ATCQ affair, but he did do some stuff to make me lost some respect for him, despite his music being good
