yo dj hyphen had Lupe on his show and he pretty much cleared that situation… I’m sure hyphen has it in his archive of radio shows. i believe that topic is over and done with….. Superstar is phenomenal. The Cool is cool.
Haven’t been able to cop this yet, but I listened to a couple tracks in my cousin’s car yesterday. Could just be the tracks I listened to, but overall I wasn’t impressed with the rhymes in this one. Saying a whole lot without actually saying anything at all. The beats were on some wacky electronic 1st and 15 tip, so that’s still kind of cool I guess. Oh well, maybe I’ll just have to give the whole thing a front to back listen.

12/19 I thoroughly enjoyed, and most of the others are interludes or ‘just okay’ songs.
IMO you have to go out of your way to find a problem with this album. Lupe is fighting the good fight for hip-hop, I’m sure of this. He makes fire.

streets on fire, intruder, little weapons are three of my favorite tracks out right now period. Little weapons really got to me with the imagery. Kids think they are thugs and hard here, go fuck with some 8 year old “freedom fighters” in Africa(not saying the entire continent, just conflict regions).
I perused this thread for some CunninLynguists-like breakdowns of this album and was sorely disappointed. I think this album is a lot deeper than even it’s toughest critics think. Anyway… what is you guys’ interpretation of “Hello Goodbye?” I know what I think it’s about, but what about you guys?

Honestly I thought he was on some “I love Unkle” shit (btw “War Stories” was hot). Unkle makes very cinematic music, and I thought he was just trying to put a picture to an instrumental track of theirs. His verses, esp his second, was very visual.
He can put down some good, thought provoking shit, but then again this is the cat who finished “Spraypaint and Inkpens” with a story about a starship captain.
