I’ve seen titles much longer on the front page.
It was #1 in the business sub-reddit and in the top 40’s of the whole site. Not too bad - if you could help spread the word I’m sure we could bump it a bit higher, too.

Hrm, I misspoke. What I really meant was that the title doesn’t flow very well. It’s not a big deal though, lol.
I’ll do my best to spread the word but out of the people know, not many people actually have accounts on Reddit ;(.
Well, I decided to spread the word in Gibson’s backyard. Why fuck around with ONLY the internet? Then I decided to send it to the entertainment capital (yeah, I know that one’s a long shot, but heh, why not?)
So I sent a news tip to the Nashville’s local newspaper, The Tennessean, and to the L.A. Times.
We’ll see if anyone bites.
(Fyi, I sent you a copy Tone, of what I sent and gave them your press e-m address for f/u.)
Just sent it to Jon Pareles who’s the music critic @ NY Times who had written a good review of Tone during Lollapallooza. (I know, another long-shot… ) Then I sent it to the A.P.
IronGrrl: Wow, thanks for putting in that legwork! Actually those are some pretty good places to send tips to (even if it seems like a longshot right now) - I’m glad you thought of them. QN5 fans are super.
For those of you interested in increasing exposure in the digital domain, reddit is extremely easy to register for…you don’t even need to wait for an email confirmation or anything like that. So @ the very least upvote on that site.
Also this topic happens to span a lot of areas of interest…QN5, hip-hop, guitars/Lollapalooza/Gibson, business integrity…basically, if you know ANYONE that might be interested in those things, tell ‘em. If you know me on Facebook there’s a template waiting for you…
Edit: I just shot an email over to illseed @ AHH.com’s rumor department, I figure 10Gs makes for a good story, regardless of the column. We’ll see if it shows up.
So I’m pretty sure this is getting to be a big topic lol. over 22,000 views on consumerist.com and almost 1000 diggs on that particular article. I think the server here went down from the influx of people coming over here.

Yeah, the site (and other QN5 sites) went down for a bit… Back up right now. We’ll see how it goes. Thanks to everyone who’s supporting this cause - looks like a lot of emails are being sent to Gibson as well.
“I can understand why they would be a little irked.”
There’s a HUGE difference between irked but still honoring the prize AND irked and completely fucking over the person who won the prize fair and square. This dude sounds like another one of those “rappers aren’t real musicians” idiots.
“Obviously, they donated the prize in the hopes of getting some publicity from the person who won, and not expecting that the person would be just planning on selling the prize on eBay.”
It was already brought up in the discussion at Consumerist.com, but wouldn’t Gibson have been better off paying Tone the (measly for them) $10,000 rather than not paying him because he won’t be shredding one of their products at his next concert and gaining tons of negative publicity? Or maybe they didn’t know that the QN5 street team can not only “rig” UGHH album of the year polls but take down huge companies as well.
Domingo… time to buy some more Sharpies, rubber bands and paper plates.
I just made a new topic over at the gibson board and decided to screen print it just in case they decide to ignore it, that way I have proof that they don’t give a shit about any of this.
I think the really important thing is the “(Thanks to Chris!)” at the very end of the article. More important than every word that preceded it, in fact. Ahem.
Actually, a big thanks should go out to Chris Walters for writing it up and Theresa, the intern who passed it along. Word.
