Patiently waiting for Tone and SOS to appear on the list for the show at Chop Suey
But hell, I’m psyched Stan and Pack were added, now I’m getting greedy.
Yeah, I can’t wait for the East Coast leg of the Cunninlynguists tour. That, of course, is if they are currently planning one. If so, I also hope PackFM and/or Substantial and/or Tonedeff is included on some of the bills (particularly in New England, since that is where I’m at).
Although I’m not in the WC area, I’m mad happy Stan is going doing some shows over there with CL. This is big for him and hopefully he can get his name out over there and get more recognized across the map. Kill it!
GREATTTTTT…my dreams of another QN5 show in SF are realized only to be crushed down by not being 21, yet again being 18 is JUST not enough….i’m still gonna try to go anyways though

5.01.08 - CunninLynguists & Substantial @ DNA Lounge - San Francisco, CA [w/ DJ FlipFlop] [All Ages!]
KaRaKaKaShK said:oh my bad i just went to the dna lounge site and it said all events are 21+...can someone confirm this?
you should just call the venue and find out. i had the same worry about the CL/stan show here, so i talked to the booking agent, and he was supposedly on the fence about switching it from 21+ to all ages, and he claimed that i helped persuade him to make it all ages. or maybe he said all that to make me feel good about myself. either way, the venue will know the info.

There are only one or two decent all ages venues in the Bay area (that I’m familiar with) thats set up for a 400-600 capacity live hip-hop show, Slim’s being one…
They are too dependant on bar tabs for income, which is understandable, so the chances of an all ages QN5 show in the Bay happening are very small…better get your fake ID game tight!
Who’s going to the Portland show? CL and Stan will tear it up for sure, and Braille’s new CD is that damn good as well. I’m gonna try and make it to sound check and hopefully meet some fellow board members for the first time (never been to a QN5 show, period).
Stan did great job. Copped Sacrifice when it came out so I actually knew the words to a lot of his songs (opposed to when I saw him at the megashow). THANK GOD he performed “Hood Hope,” that is by far my fav song of his. He kilt it on that track.
Pack did a great job as usual. He seemed a lil frustrated with the crowd at first but I felt they def came around eventually. Him and Stan did a dance off, don’t mean to hate but your guys’ kidnplay dance was AWKWARD! LOL. But you guys’ solo dances were hella funny. He performed “Pluckin Daisies” and a remix of “I Can’t Win” which was dope. Pack always tears the roof off.
There was almost a girl fight during pack’s set, or at least i think so. Some girl was SCREAMING at these other girls, she was hella pissed.
I felt kind of bad I couldn’t go as crazy as I usually do during pack’s set. I was going off 3 hours of sleep after endless amounts of homework and I was sober lol. But i tried to vibe as hard as I could!!!
CL kilt it as usual. The intro to thier set was dope. It started of with the first half of “Never” then Natti hopped on stage alone and performed his verse from “Things I dream” ...shit i think it was that track I forgot now. Anyways dude come out on stage with a baseball bat and gloves.
Kno’s HELLA funny. Always crackin jokes. They performed “Nasty Filthy” including Stans verse from the Remix…they kind of missed some of their cues and lyrics for that cut but they still kept it live as hell!! Kno kept making fun of DJ flip flop which was funny.
Saw forum OG, Resident Evil, chopped it up with him. It was good to see him again.
Show was live, very draining, I was tired as hell afterwards. Thanks for comin’ through guys, much appreciated.
I don’t wanna rehash everything Gregory Grammar already mentioned, but here’s my account of the evening.
Substantial made the most of his time on stage (which seemed a little on the short side to me) and was able to stir up the crowd pretty damn well. While I realize he has an album to promote and wanted to focus on the material from “Sacrifice” I was hoping he’d spit his verse from “Velocity”, but unfortunately that wasn’t in the cards. Someone standing behind me must have been seriously let down because in the short down time between Stan’s tracks, he would shout “Immortality!” over and over again. I knew what to expect heading into the show from Stan, but I felt that given what he had to work with from the crowd perspective, he held it down for QN5 and definitely didn’t disappoint. My personal highlight of his set was “That Damn Good”.
Pack and Stan displayed what it meant to be an MC with dance skills after informing those who were naive to the fact that simply putting a record out used to mean that an artist actually had skills. Nowadays anyone can drop an album.
Note: Soulja Boy’s “Crank Dat” does not fall into the above mentioned category!!!
As he has the past few times I’ve seen him perform Pack freestyled about the random objects submitted from the crowd. Forum member AK ended up as part of a punchline after passing his cell forward. Given that I’ve now seen this in person three times I’m even more impressed because despite being handed the same stuff in a few instances I’ve yet to hear him recycle any of his previous lines.
Pack seemed hesitant at first to even do the song, but Pack preserved his new Nikes by leaving them on stage while performing “Stomp” in the middle of the crowd on a folding chair.
Pack was then able to add “Great God” and “Spell It With A K” to his set list because (for the first time in hip-hop history) the show was apparently running ahead of schedule.
When the lights dimmed prior to CL’s set I was expecting to hear “Damnation” followed by “Hellfire” to open things up, but the brief clip of
So last night in Boulder, we were not let down at all by QN5…
Started out with like 20 people inside the venue, my two friends and I were disappointed especially after the opening act of a bunch of wannabe gangsters come out rapping as a crew with one of them having a clown mask on doing some retarded dancing.
Finally, at about 9:30 Mr. SOS hit the stage with a jacket and backpack on and people started coming in. He tore it up, it was fucking awesome to see SOS and after that he was just wandering around the place hanging out with everyone, or just standing up on stage doing funny shit or throwing water bottles to people (thanks SOS, I was thirsty haha).
Next on was Substantial who tore the shit up as well. Its so much different hearing things live vs on the cd and gives you so much more appreciation for the artists.
After that was Pack, who came running around with sunglasses and a video camera in hand (any chance we’ll see that footage on the blog?). Getting to see him do Plucking Dasies was fun, especially since it wasn’t from his main cd or anything. Pack is just so damn entertaining and he and Tone really got the crowd going with Stomp.
Finally Tone hit it off and was fucking INCREDIBLE. The only QN5 members I’ve seen live were Cunninlynguists who were awesome, but Tone was absolutely amazing. Porcelain, Heavyweight, Pervert, Politics and Optimist were the only tracks I can remember him doing, but it was awesome. I can’t put it into words. Unfortunately a girl fight broke out right as he started doing Pervert (this bitch owned the other chick with a fist to the face it was sick), and people’s attention were diverted to that area even after it was all over, but they still went on and everything was great.
And finally, the main event, Cunninlynguists. Of course they opened with Never, and went on to Valley of Death (I believe) and from there, I can’t quite remember the set list. Stan came out and did Nasty Filthy with them, Tone did Love Ain’t (thank god, it was amazing, my favorite song), and then CL doing Rain, never thought I’d get to hear that live but it was awesome. Of course all the DA shit just blew it off the roof.
So, everyone leaves the stage saying its over (this is about midnight I believe), and nobody leaves. Next thing we know, people start yelling for requests and Tone and Kno are running around trying to find the cds. Everyone goes nuts and I didn’t think the show would go this late. I don’t quite recall the songs other than Hellfire, but Tone did a few by himself. Then Tone, Pack, SOS and Deacon come out and start freestyling. I’ve got some on video, unfortunately I had taken so many videos and pictures my card filled up.
Show ends at around 1am, and Stan, Pack and Tone are back at the merchandise place so we went back there and I completed my mission of getting QN5 autographs. Got all three of them, I just need Session and I’ll have collected em all I’ll be framing them for my QN5 wall soon. Everyone was really cool, such a good group of guys and a blast to hang out with. SOS is just funny as hell, he Tone and Stan started a conga line out of nowhere that ran around the whole venue, it was great. And SOS while we were making purchases and hanging out with everyone, yells out “First lady to put her hands up gets a free SOS shirt”, (nobody was buying his shirt, eventhough he was trying to sell it for a half hour lol) my friend was the only girl left and she didn’t realize it so I yelled at her to put her hands up and everyone started laughing. SOS threw her the shirt and everyone signed it.
Although I told you guys last night thanks, I have to say it again - thank you so much for coming out and putting on a show. It was fucking awesome having our own little mini-Megashow and makes me want to save up my pennies just to take a trip out to see a Megashow. Unforunately it wasn’t sold out like the last time, but that was probably due to the Kanye show in Denver but as we all said… Fuck Kanye. You guys still got a damn good turnout, it looked weak at first, but by the time Stan was halfway through his set it was pretty packed. I’ve got plenty of pictures and lots of videos, I’ll get em up on YouTube and such after I plow through my mound of homework, but I just had to get this posted up. Thanks again, it was amazing!
hahah glad u enjoyed the show homie but I guess my bright orange on the shirt wasn’t bright enough for u to notice me cuz at the encore tone didn’t rhyme by himself, me and him did basix and ruthless and that wasn’t sos in the conga line, that was also lil ol me, and I did stomp with substantial
