Dirty Acres East Coast Tour OCT. 16th: NYC, NY @ Knitting Factory

aNiMeMaN14 said:it was a dope show.

As predicted.

Coming to you live from Penn Station while I wait till 316 for the next train to long island.

The show was ridiculously craaaazyyy. All the QN5 folks that performed were sick. ICON, don’t know Substantial’s backup vocalist’s name, Mecca, and some guy named John Public were all good too.

I cant remember everything in order so i’ll jot it down in note form—

-ICON got the crowd going in the beginning and in between sets. There weren’t any blind folded freestyles but there was disco and dancing! (he says lookout for that in April but i’m not sure if he was messing with me)

-As live shows go, it was sort of hard to hear some things if you didn’t already know the words but John Public sounded like he had something to say. Short set but was interesting.

-Substantial did a bunch of favorites…It’s You, That Damn Good, Hood Hope, and others. No Labor Pains but I listen to that every day around 830 AM and again at 515 PM anyway. He was also summoned back on stage later for Nasty Filthy.

-Tonedeff was kind enough to swing by for this NYC event. He came in for Line Drop, The Gates, and did some Heavyweight fast-rapping-get-the-crowd-going-ooooooh type stuff.

-PackFM’s live show is liiiiiiive. He did Suzie, Stomp, Cant Win, a classic Pack acapella verse, and others.

CL obviously is a group that has another real energetic live show (who on QN5 doesn’t?). They did Beautiful Girl, Thugged Out Since Cub Scouts, Lynguists (omgiknowthewordz), Mexico, Seasons, Since When, Hour Glass, Natti came out to his Things I Dream verse, Hellfire, What’ll You Do, and a bunch more.

-Apparently someone in Ottawa can go fuck themselves real hard with a hot iron on the end of a broomstick for stealing some of the DJ equipment. Props to DJ Flip Flop for doing what he does on some loaner 1’s and 2’s.

-The crew is very down to earth and approachable after the show despite being surrounded by 9 kids everywhere they turned. Awwwsuume.

-Got 2 copies of the Pack CD/DVD signed (#119 and #122 for those keeping score at home). $10 per set was a steal if i ever saw one.

-Does anyone do shout outs anymore? if so what up Variance, Nino, Keef, Anime, Suzie, Hass, the blond in the front who seemed to get really good pictures, and the skinny Asian with rhythm.

All in all, had a great time. It was a mini-Mega Show and I appreciate all the time and effort that was put in! There wasnt a dull moment. You’re all right in my book, QN5. High five for Jesus. Also sorry to hear their tour-car aka Dodge Charger had a charger that didnt work (irony!) and glad everyone made it safe in the replacement death traps that are the PT Cruiser (aka the dodge neon on creatine) and the Kia Sportage.

I wish I didn’t live in LA after reading that Sad

after reading that, i think i might kill myself

So um yea, for all those that missed the show, you also missed a chance to get a copy of Pack’s “Best of” cd. He was kind of enough to autograph the cd, so it can be ebayable. But I won’t be selling that.

Anyway I came late, due to the girlfriend getting out of work at 10 and driving in from jersey, so I came at the beginning of Pack’s set. The whole night just felt good. The live shows these artists put were amazing, it’s been a minute since I’ve been at any show and it was good to come out of the slump with this. Pack’s “Lupe” line was stand out when he spit that acapella. I would repeat the line, but I wouldn’t do much justice by only typing it and the fact that I may be off by a word or two. Either way it was crazy and you felt the vibration of the floor when everyone Stomped.
The Cunninlynguists have a ton of material and I knew that beforehand, but when their performing I don’t know what to say, but it’s a wow kind of factor. I’m a bit disappointed that 616 rewind wasn’t done, but whatever it was good to see them perform. I liked the energy they brought.
For all you new Qn5 fans, remember if it wasn’t for affirmative action Kno wouldn’t have been in the group. Lol People shout out the oddest things. Plus, I was in the offbeat section which is by the way(not surprising), but only one person was drinking dancing hella offbeat. Plus I had the fatboys shouting dumb shit and bumping into everyone around them. But either way some of it was entertaining while watching the show…at times. Honestly it’s hard to put into words what the show was like, because it’s a good show and you have to be there to really get the feel of it. My girl liked the show too and she didn’t know what to expect. I would’ve taken to a previous show, but we separated for a couple years, but finally she experienced the music by Qn5 artists like it’s suppose to be-live.

Like I suggested to Pack after the show, there needs to be a Qn5 Megashow again. Yes, this was like a mini megashow and I’ loved it, but let’s see if it’s possible to bring that extravaganza event back.

yeah there was some poor soul directly infront of me who was the most off beat sumbitch ive ever seen… it was truely horrible and at some points pretty funny… then the drunk fat dude who was directly in back of me yelling the dumbest shit in the world… it was funny at first but got tiring after a while… but hey, the enthusiasm and hype was there so you really cant complain, everyone would rather have that than a dead crowd giving u cricket noises…

so yeah… hope theres another show soon… it was good to see a live n hyped nyc crowd… havent seen that in quite a while… and when u go to your show, pick up some merch… that merch table was pretty fucking good with all the different shirts n shit.. and of course the 10 cds… thats all folks… keef out

One correction, Jimson

(11:33:12) Me: how was the concert? Smile
(11:33:26) Daisy: OMG
(11:33:29) Daisy: so good

gogo QN5

^lawls at that

shit was a tight ass show wish it never end.. and i soooo tired of drunk people yelling stupid shit..
pics to come soon!

Damn, ICON was there? Sounds like an incredible show start to finish.

Yeah, crazy show. I’ll upload some pics as soon as I get a chance.

I’m beat right now. Didn’t get back home til 5 this morning. It was well worth the trip.

Hi 5 for Jesus!

i was gonna make a surprise appearance cause amen told me about it, but it totally slipped my mind that is was last night frown asshole didn’t remind me haha.

yesss this show was absolutely amazing! thanks to all the artists for their incredible performances. even though stan’s voice wasn’t 100% healthy, even though flipfop lost all his shit, their effort and energy was unaffected by it. that’s when you know you have some true troopers. i sincerely appreciated and enjoyed everything!!

i liked that steph backed stan for the whole set. i thought he was only going to do backup vocals for ‘hood hope’ and ‘it’s you (i think)’ but his presence really added something. and thank you thank you for performing ‘r love songs gay?’!! that song needs to be heard by as many people as possible.

daaaaamnnnn tone came out for linedrop. it would’ve been nice to see session too, but i’m not complaining because that shit was intense regardless. i swear there were camera flashes going off every five seconds during that performance. that was the first time i’d ever seen tonedeff perform and he completely blew my mind. i really need to see a full and proper tonedeff set. not only was it really spectacular to see him rap that fast, it was great to see how expressive he could be with his lyrics. this was extremely evident with ‘the gates’ as well. the way he performs really demonstrates how he internalizes the lyrics or at least gets fully into the character. i couldn’t help but gape.

pack was next. after reading about the freestyle game for years, i finally got to see it happen! it was really fun and entertaining. i always love watching freestyles, and it was incredibly fresh to see that pack didn’t spit any generic lines but instead actually tailored the lyrics specifically to the items handed to him. and haha mecca, i apologize on behalf of my friend’s pin for hurting your dainty finger. hopefully it didn’t cause any permanent damage. Razz anyway back to pack, i’m SO EXCITED for ‘i fucking hate rappers’. that acapella is SO raw and truthful and powerful. ‘stomp’ was amazing because so many people came out on stage with so much energy. how am i supposed to listen to the studio version after seeing something like that?

then it was cunninlynguists. jeeez there wasn’t a single song performance that i didn’t enjoy. they have such an incredibly solid catalog that i think it’s virtually impossible to construct a bad set. when they played ‘lynguistics,’ i feared that the set was going to end because someone mentioned that was how a previous tour date’s set ended. haha i’m so glad that was only midway through the set or so. i don’t even know how long CL rocked for, but i was completely engaged the whole time so the time flew by SO quickly. i might’ve said this before, but i would give anything to hear the entire CL catalog done live, or more viably, ‘a piece of strange’ or ‘dirty acres’ performed in its entirety.

overall, it was a great night! thanks to everyone for being so nice to me! thank you t.mo for all the snazzy bags and the baby. thanks for the shirts tone. now i have to cop some extra merch to make things even again. thanks stan for letting me follow you around. again, i am so glad i am a fan of a label of artists who are so approachable, appreciative, kind, and funny, all in addition to being fucking talented. qn5 is one of a kind. I LOVE YOU ALL Very Happy

i think i need to find a place to crash next time - i hate how i end up leaving early every show to catch a train Sad

it was nice to see the usual suspects.

thanks to all those who made the night possible.

DOPE DOPE SHOW. Daps to FlipFlop too. Man had lost his laptop during the tour. Dope DJ nonetheless.

You know the set list was mad different when you’re lucky enough to hear HalfAnimal, Mic Like a Memory, Line Drop, Sire, Are Love Songs Gay, Q.T. and The Gates, and of course all the other dope usual ones.

Well, I’ll be seeing CL and Pack again in two weeks… Laughing

this show was doopee… but nothing less was expected - qn5 always delivers when it comes to a live show Very Happy

it was a sexy show…...

amazing

i want another one!

what’s up everybody? long time qn5 fan, first time poster. this was the first qn5 show i’ve been to and it definitely won’t be the last. i was up in the front left. Threesome? Wink

but anyways… I still gotta get my pictures up. I finally got a chance to download them to my PC, so I will put them up somewhere tonight when I get home from work. Being short(er) and in the middle of the crowd sucks…alot of head shots of the people in front of me. Fuckers.

I was hoping Tone would be able to do a few more songs in between Pack’s set and CL’s set. And it seemed like they were about to do Velocity after he did a verse from Heavy weight acapella. However, CL was ready to hit the stage and did their damn thing.
