I’ve liked Inverse’s songs on previous QN5 releases, but never really got into them.. they were just cool tracks I’d listen to when they came up.
This shit, however, is insane.
I’d give a short song-by-song analysis.. but I’d just be reiterating myself one after another. Basically, the rhymes are smooth and fresh, the beats are otherworldly, and I’m now no doubt an Inverse fan. I’d cop this shit if given the chance.
Definitely a dope EP. But, is it just me, or is the sound a little… dull? It’s not as clear-sounding as So Far. Like it’s an underwater-filter or something over it. :/

Webhosting, mixing, mastering, writing, live guitarist, violist, pianist, graphic designer, engineers, vocalists and producers all out of pocket…they give it to you absolutely for FREE…and this is your feedback?

Fuck music, for real…lol.
*opens Monster.com, looks for IT jobs*
I can’t give feedback other than “THIS IS ILL AS FUCK YO!!!!!”? It is ill as fuck, and I love what you do, but the EP sounds dull. Which is a damn shame, because I would love to listen to it in perfect quality.
I downloaded the song So True before the EP dropped, and when I listen to it now, the “old” version sounds a lot better than the one on the EP. So I’m wondering what happened in between.
I didn’t mean to come off like I wasn’t loving it, I do. Keep doing what you do, Kno, Inverse, and everybody involved in the QN5.

Real talk though, not to get into a gigantic mixing/mastering thing here, but I also noticed that the mixes didn’t have alot of shimmer…but again, that’s ultra-nitpicky shit that has nothing to do with the quality of the music. I’m enjoying the record just the same as something mastered in a 250/hr studio.

Kno & I always key in on the silver lining.

Of course you can!

Well, it doesn’t exist in ‘better quality’. This is what they’ve presented.
Most importantly, it’s fucking DOPE AS HELL, Beautifully written, produced & designed. The fact that it’s FREE OF CHARGE basically voids anyone’s mix nitpickery. Just enjoy the music folks.

By all means do so. Talk about the hooks you loved or beats you hated or what verses you’d change or who has better adlibs…whatever. With all the hard work they put into it without the goal of making a penny from it, I’m sure that is all Toby and Tunji are really looking for.
You, on the other hand, are complaining about the sound quality of FREE mp3 files.
The day I engage in an argument about why that’s fucked up is the day I quit music.
I guess it’s a little uncalled for, complaining about the sound quality when not paying anything for it, but that’s what first hit me though. How much more clear the first So True (the song) sounds, than the final version that’s on the EP does. You listen and compare.

It’s a sign of the times, people are so used to getting music for free they feel like it’s their god given right to nitpick. For all you youngins on the board, not so long ago everyone paid for music and you would spend 15 bucks on a CD and actually LISTEN to it for weeks, months, and if it was really good years.
However, even if that CD sucked ass you would still listen to it because you invested your money and sometimes you would force yourself to believe that the 15 dollar Drag-on CD you bought was not that bad (when it was. ) .
The point is artists now are the ones who are giving out FREE music, why? Because people don’t want to pay for music 99% of the time, because their favorite internet rapper dropped 8 mixtapes in a 2 month time span *cough* *cough* and the market is FLOODED with garbage.
So when Inverse gives you a dope EP, for FREE…try something new ENJOY it. Put away the critiques and listen to it like you paid 15 bucks for the thing.
Reviewers need to listen to this like they paid for it (c) Tonedeff

That doesn’t make a lot of sense, because if I HAD paid 15 dollars for it then there’s no way that I wouldn’t complain about the quality. It is certainly a valid critique though, as it should definitely be known that it gets very distracting if you’re listening on decent audio equipment. It being free doesn’t and shouldn’t make it devoid of all quality criticisms. I could understand if it was something like a free movie that you watch once or twice and never again, but for something that gets played over and over again constantly means that quality is EXTREMELY important.
Sound quality aside, the music is great! I like all the tracks, but Goodnight Goodnight definitely stands out as my favorite.
Complaining about the sound quality of free music is nit-picky to the bitchiest extent.
It’s like receiving a free car and complaining that it doesn’t look good from the outside even though the actual components that make it work and do what it’s supposed to do function perfectly.

No, it’s absolutely nothing like that. Closer would be like receiving a free pdf of a book and complaining that the words are fuzzy and aren’t as easy to read as they should be, but even THAT is a horrible comparison because you don’t read a book as often as you listen to a song (at least I don’t know anyone who has read tons of books hundreds of times each).
DWilli707 said:HEY IT WAS A GOOD ALBUM, HAS THAT BECOME LESS IMPORTANT THAN THE SOUND QUALITY.
Motherfuck, man.
I certainly didn’t say that it was less important than sound quality. Although it certainly could be if it was really horrible, but that isn’t the case here.
For the record…the sound quality on the master sounds great…I must have ripped it poorly because I do notice that it loses a good amount of it’s shimmer in the mp3. When we get it up on itunes and if we ever press these up for real the sound quality will be a lot better

Its fucking FREE.
Your folks taught you to complain about free shit?
I don’t know about you, but if I tried to suggest I asked for the 21.99 “Battle Damage” He-Man instead of the regular 12.99 He-Man that Santa brought me I would have gotten my ass whupped and He-Man would have found his way back to that big Castle Grayskull in the sky otherwise known as customer service at Toys R’ Us.
“But dad, I have to play with this over and over again. Quality is EXTREMELY import-”
