F P F?
D E S?
(the last letter of each undescored word) = Department of Economic Security?  Data Encryption Standard?

what does it all mean????????????????????

Underscores are meant to emphasize, and, according to Merriam-Webster, indicate intent to italicize.

fanned by a pale mist the heart flutters

????

Nigella damascena flower (love-in-a-mist) can be pale colored.. found on neglected, damp patches of land (twitter background?).. also known as devil-in-a-bush.. used in dried flower bouquets (fanned by??)

I might be digging into things a little too much.. hmm

I’m lost. Maybe it’ll make more sense as we get more clues?

I am noticing the theme of love in these hints though…

Definitely love and relationships when you take these verbal clues and My Lady into account.. though I get a big question mark when it comes to relating Fulgencio Batista on January 1, 1959 to all of it.. without getting into drawn out, unlikely theories.

It is about love.  But I think the “Fulgencio” and 1/1/59 were meant to throw us off.

The album is a concept album about the love life of DAVE Batista, WWE Wrestler. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dave_Batista

mystery solved, folks:

Carpathian Forest - The Pale Mist Hovers Towards The Nightly Shores

Laughing

seriously though…hmm. anyone want to break out a few anagrams?

connecting dots & random stuff—

beyond dealing with love (clue two) a fluttering heart (atrial fibrillation) can be a health problem, with breathing (clue one) trouble being an associated symptom, and death (see My Lady) being a possible outcome.

paleness may also be somehow associated with death, or sickness, or a faint presence in general.

notice, too, how fanning and the beating of a heart imply the presence of some sort of periodic (though, not necessarily) rhythm (clue two).

mist, meanwhile, might emerge from the tides of the sea. figuratively (or physically) might deal with a lack of vision, or sight, or clarity…contrast this with stars, a source of light, being imposed in the firmament (clue two).

above all, the clue seems to invite us to swoon. out of vulnerability, or joy.

so i guess i’m seeing the love angle, or the birth-death angle, but it’s hard to say at the moment.

1. anticipation or origin
2. organization or coexistence
3. arrhythmia or excitement

i sort of wonder whether there’s some sort of logic behind the clue order. a track listing, perhaps? numerology anyone?

what is certainly clear is there is lots of oceanic/celestial imagery involved.

The only thing I’m almost certain on is Chico & The Man is too cool for capital letters haha. I think I’m on to something Very Happy

i’m confused.

I’m mystified.

don’t you mean “Mist"ified

From fanned, pale, and flutters, I’m thinking something about a dove or maybe an angel…white and wings are coming to mind.

We know it will be about love, so much should be clear.

Everything beyond love is too much to know right now, because i take the Ocean and mist as metaphors to express the love in the quotes used.

I actually think it could be possbile that the quote

... were the underscores always red?

WaleKilla said:... were the underscores always red?

yeah, the word “exclusive” in my qn5 fanzine post got changed to red too. red… love… blood… loss of loved ones…

yeah, i’m not good with this investigative work. Sad but all the theories people are putting forth are incredibly interesting.

Im not even gunna bother trying to add anything to this thread…

lol

yet everyone’s ideas ARE really interesting to hear

lol Tones probably sitting back in his chair laughing at some of our random guesses

haha wow, you guys are pretty good..

or MAYBE just MAYBE, since it was posted on April 1st, its just there to throw us off!

hahaha.

Yes, the red underscores and such just represent the red veins popping out of Tone’s neck as he laughs his ass off.. Chico & The Man is nothing more than the story of a Cuban/Colombian immigrating to America and his adventures with some gringo he met at Taco Bell.

  lol

Doing random google searches I found this quote:

“a place of feel-good nostalgia, easy answers, and painless solutions, forever looking backward through a pale mist and seeing only the soft focus outlines of what it wants to see.”

It’s taken from a book by NY Times columnist Peter Applebome about the south, and how it would want to see itself.

This interests me for a few reasons:

- I think it’s a great quote.
- It has to do with the south, a subject familiar to Kno, with obvious influence in his music.
- I like the idea of “a pale mist” having to do with memory, or one’s perception of memory after it has had time to fade a little.

The last of my reasons is what really interests me, especially when paired with the idea of love, or relationships, and how we view them in our past.  I think this should be looked at independent of that quote, and the whole “southern” connection (which I don’t really think is relevant).

I think this might be saying that our clouded memories provoke emotional reactions.  Whether they be positive or negative would depend on your interpretation of the word flutter.

Anyway, that’s all I got for now.  Most likely irrelevant, but interesting, maybe.

maybe it’s parts of three different lines/sentences made to look like a new sentence?
maybe not?

“pale mist” could be black smoke monster for all I fucking know

Firstly, I’m SO GLAD I’m not as obsessive as some of you Wink. These three clues are too vague to get any decent sense of the specifics of the album without simply having a lucky guess. Even with a lucky guess, though, there’s still too much uncertainty to provide any relief outside of tone straight up telling us we got it right. Which I don’t think he’ll do. I mean, I could go look up the wikipedia entry for “red” but there’s a good 15-20 symbolic meanings for the color. I’m just as well off saying that Tone hates the way the album turned out because red is the opposite of blue, his favorite color. What I’m saying, basically, is that I’d wait for a more substantial clue because trying to piece together half of a blurry picture will only make it harder to discern the entire picture in focus.

Why are red & blue colored oppositely?

houstonz said:Why are red & blue colored oppositely?

yeah, I’m wondering that as well…

I’m assuming Tone did that, and gangstasmurf didn’t.. but I don’t know.
