Tonedeff I’m convinced Royce is as talented as any MC out right now

He hadn’t put it all together yet, but man oh man is Death Is Certain crazy. It’s a little inconsistent production wise, but Royce is just fuckin cold on the mic. I’ll get a review up this weekend when I get some time.

i agree, but i think his production is pretty solid. it does have a few flaws but ya overall, hotness all around

Re: f

Yea, production normally grows on me as I sit down and really give an album a good listen. I’ma listen to it some more and focus before I write up the review.

‘I And Me’ is hip hop. I’ve had it on replay for over an hour. Just hits you hard.

And between that Pitch Black single and ‘Hip Hop’ on this album, PREMIER IS BACK FOR ALL YOU SUCKAS!

Mistakes that I

Re: f

definately getting that album when it comes out here

i still bump rock city v2.0, especially “life” and “king of kings” “Just cuz of that hater shit/I’ll leave ya toe tagged like I spray painted it” - Deacon The Villain

...

Yea, this album is great.

Glad Royce hasn’t disappointed everyone again. This is the album we all knew he was capable of.

I’ll be picking a copy of this up when its released. Anyone know the release date BTW?

...

The release date is supposedely 2/24, but I’ve talked to a couple people that said their store had it, so I dunno.

Re: ...

u right aura…..i love that King of kings shit…..kills it with he jesus reference and shit….i’ve always liked his work…definite lyricism and a very distinct flow….not mad at Royce at all….Yo tone wassup with a collabo???

indeed

yea the albums dope… i’m gonna have an audio interview with royce up on http://www.hiphopmag.com real soon - the person i had conduct it had to record it onto a roland so i’m just waiting for him to get to the studio so he can transfer it onto his pc to give to me - keep an eye out for it though, next week it’ll definitely be up

yo

i know Royce has skill out the ass but i dont think he makes good songs. some of them were crazy nice but the majority are borderline wack. i havent heard Death is Certain yet but i got that Build and Destroy and its pretty disappointing

Re: yo

His best shit was his earliest. I wasn’t that impressed with his new album, but only listened to it once. Need to sit down with it a couple more times.

word

i gotta say Royce is in his prime right now…Hip Hop is a great song getting some good airplay…great premier shit

yo

i heard that hip hop track a while back. i personally think the beat outshined royce on that track. royce never gets outshined even when he’s spitting with eminem or over a primo beat, but i honestly think the primo beat had the edge on him. anyway i hope his new shit is a billion and a half times better than rock city

Re: word

King of Kings is Royce’s best song, EVER. I listened to the new one a couple times, and I honestly don’t care for it. Its got its moments…I dig “Something’s Wrong w/Him”, “Beef”, and “Hip-Hop”, of course. I don’t know if its just that since i’ve loved King of Kings for so long, I’m expecting something on that level or what, but this album is just boring to me.

Re: word

Well, King of Kings is my fav song from him too, but I think this album is pretty hot. Not flawless, but mostly due to inconsistent production. Lyrically, he’s just pure dopeness, but I’d like to see him do more conceptual songs like King of Kings.

yo

i just copped Death Is Certain and that shit is freakin bananas. The best album of the year and, no, I didn’t forget about College Dropout. The production is so much of an improvement from all of Royce’s earlier work. Plus, not suprisingly, Royce lyrically and fluidly deficates on this album.

Re: yo

I can’t even compare College Dropout to Death Is Certain. Royce’s is miles ahead imo. If you get good beats and amazing lyricism, it’s much better for my tastes than great beats and average lyricism. Hopefully this will put Royce on the map.

Imagine if Preem produced the whole album??

I just copped that Pitch Black joint too. Very inconsistent production wise, but all the MCs got great mic presence and it’s worth it for that and the 5-6 tracks with good production.

yo

yea i copped the Pitch Black album a couple weeks back. It’s a good album but nothing that will have a long time effect. I mean I’ll probably never listen to it again after a month.

Re: yo

yea, i wouldnt listen front to back after a few listens. but there’s about 5 songs on there that have replayability.

This is 2Pac’s lyric S Maybe y’all knew?

I don’t like rappers using others lyrics / But if it’s ‘RIP-shit’ then it’s aiit!

Re: yo

no shit. it wasn’t in his lyrics or chorus, it was sort of an intro/outro to the song. and very fitting to it imo.
