That one should’ve been the single for the album.

I have to pick up one of your releases. Your set at the Megashow was incredible. I’ve been listening your songs on the Megashow mix for awhile now. Time for me to get some new joints.

agreed. That new Higher Stars song is awesome, Kokayi sounds phenomonal on the vocals.

Grabbing my copy of Mass Instructions for the car as I head to Musikfest

ok I’m gonna bump this thread, because I just saw Kokayi perform with his jazz group called Proverb Trio in Mill Valley on Wednesday. I am not really a jazz listener… I like it and I definitely respect it, but I don’t really know much about it so I was not sure what to expect.

Proverb Trio is a drummer, a guy with some fancy keyboards and electronic stuff, and Kokayi on vocals. I don’t even really know how to describe their music but I think that’s Kokayi’s thing, right? Sometimes he sang and sometimes he rapped over the drums and keyboards. At one point in the show there was this totally amazing and hilarious song about twitter, with the recurring line being “I hit her on twitter”. After the show I asked him if I could have the lyrics to that song and he told me the whole thing was totally improv’ed. I am SO impressed. He was going a mile a minute in some of those songs and though I don’t remember a whole lot about the second song they played I remember it being kinda deep and political. Kokayi is really talented, and yeah we all knew that already but I can’t wait for a real tour when everyone gets to see him live again.

Also he’s one of the nicest guys. Must be a DMV thing because Stan is disgustingly nice too Smile

I took a few pictures at the show, not the best angle but a couple came out alright.
