Chico And The Man number four

18/5/1/3/8/  23/8/9/20/5   13/1/18/9/16/15/19/1

maybe if i was nicolas cage, i’d be able to figure this out

Mariposa is the Spanish word for “butterfly”. Maybe it has something to do with the Chico & The Man picture on the Fanzine?

oh man… i’m almost fed up with this running round! i just want to hear the damn music now hahahahaha

good work everyone…

interesting… found this out

The White Mariposa or Butterfly Jasmine (Hedychium Coronarium Koenig).
An endemic jasmine species used by the Cuban women in the wars of independence to pass messages to the battlefields. It symbolizes purity, rebelliousness and independence

If Tone has spent hours and hours researching for this album, I got a feelin this little tidbit plays a part in his masterpiece.

So maybe it could be read as a kind of command?

Reach, white mariposa.

Put a comma after reach, and it reads like that.  And if that were to be the case, all we need is the music to put it in context!

well if its really a command maybe we should try to “reach” whatever white mariposa is?

I think it’s more of the idea of the white mariposa reaching the receiver on the battlefield.. if what TOCS found regarding the Cuban wars for independence is connected to this.. it connects the concept of love from the Maya Angelou quote to Cuban history found in the Fulgencio Batiste clue.

I dont see the connection.

Im googling “white mariposa”.

the women used them to send messages to the battlefields.. I’d assume to their lovers/husbands/boyfriends in the war. Love.

So what do we have then? A story of separated lovers, set to the backdrop of the cuban revolution?

if that’s even correct… if

I think I’m stating the obvious here, but since nobody mentioned it specifically I thought I’d throw it out in the open..

It all fits…

it’s all coming together…interesting
wish I wasn’t sick when this clue came out. it’s the only one I could make sense of by myself so far

same here..I actually am start’n to feel like I’m contributing somethin.

that cant be it. the last clue was multiple parts and i think theyre just getting more complicated now. that code was too easy to solve. I fIeel like we should lookfor ways to ‘reach’ this ‘white mariposa’.  to me it might be used like ‘make contact’ so it makes sense we’re supposed to do something now. im googling anything that has hck or white mariposa in it.

Maybe it’s telling everyone to take their asses to the Megashow.. haha

I’m thinking/hoping there will be something regarding Chico & The Man to be seen or heard at the show.. based on past Megashows showcasing new, unreleased material from upcoming projects.

ya, definitely hopin the megashow provides some kind of clues/explanations/something for CATM

this shit has me fucking HYPED!

Tone: now were going to play a new song off a little project called catm
crowd: yooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo *volcano erupts*

Wait…can someone do a clue recap?

I’m not even sure what these clues are clues to, the plot to the CATM concept?

Thanks!

A quote from Tone regarding the clues & Work For It campaign:

” ... something that Kno & I have crafted as a way to bring you into the world of the record.”

got it although a bit too occupied to put together the clues.

Could someone give a recap of the clues and how they tie together, basically paint the picture of what the blue schoolers have figured out thus far….

This. A fresh new thread perhaps?

if you look at the source of http://whitemariposa.com/  cada punto confirma el Ășltimo is commented out in the code.  translated: each point confirms the last one

ok… i totally missed this clue. FUCK.
oh well. time to start thinking again.

the thing that bothers me is that this clue is presented in numbers. Not because it is presented this way, but because it was too easy to solve it. that is not Tone’s style. the numbers were put into brackets, to be exchanged for letters in the easiest and most convenient way.
It could be that the numbers in themselves are a clue.
they are seperated the same way dates are, with little / things (cant think of the word for it)

this would lead to the conclusion/guess that we are looking for a date here. a time. the time/setting of the album.
for more that 45 years(of the web page), in combination with the cuban background we have already established in my lady, would lead to the revolution.
the cuban revolution as the setting of the album.
if that is true, i can understand why tone needs to do research.

assuming this is the content of the album, a problem is emerging:
a historical album in intself (which would be groundbreaking, i would bet my ass it has never been done in hip hop and probably music) would be lacking the multiple meanings, layers and ways of interpretation that we have been promised.
so it could be a metaphor for the fight against an oppressing and demanding elite in Hip Hop.
i believe that it could be, thatthe fight qn5 has taken upon itself, the fight for good music and against garbage hip hop will be taken metaphorically on this album. where tone has talked about a new archetype on “archteype” he would now be talking about Che Guevara overthrowing the oppressing Batista.
The up until now established love background would fit in through the white mariposa… battlefield (battle rap perhaps??) etc.

yet from this train of thought i have two problems rising:

the cuban government was not always good to the people. the trials etc. were harsh and often unjust.

plus the connection we have until now, that the web page has provided for more than 45 years is lacking a good logical connection to batista: why would the album be connected to the “bad” part, the antagonist that has to be overthrown, of the revolution?

soo… just some first thoughts.

Hope you can follow them and get some input

This clue was posted just in time for Cuban National Day - 7/26
