Not so much by a flower or butterfly, but the fact that our protagonist’s mother is seemingly deceased (which would relate to the white mariposa memorial service) OR another possible understanding that our protagonist is speaking “to” his old homeland of Cuba, whose national flower is the White Mariposa. The second verse of “My Lady” tells of a new lady/homeland. There are references to being “beneath the skies” and “on the water for an easy ride” ... going sailing on boat, ey? How interesting, this seems to be what you do while partaking in White Mariposa Memorial Services. I can’t get my brain to calm down and figure how you could relate a new land in place of the lady.
- “I hear the singing sirens/ I bid her adieu as she and I collide” .. as we’ve spoken about before, sirens (the creatures) would typically cause sailors to become obsessed/seduced by their singing and they would refuse to leave the sirens and.. who’da thunk it.. die. Not to discredit the theory (nor do I have any secret insider info on the CATM album), but that block of “__utma” and “__utmz” code is an automated snippet of code generated by Google Analytics. Most likely, someone visited a page tracked by Google Analytics by searching for “homecoming king tonedeff”.

I’m pretty sure this was just coincidence. We tried to release the Fanzine ASAP with the HCK image, and the third clue was posted to Twitter the same day we released the Fanzine issue. They’re definitely connected, but the date is more than likely coincidence.. unless *looks to the sky* ...

i dont know if i might be right and everything, but concerning the last clue and the song no hope those two got death in common. we got the death of a friend in no hope while in the white mariposa site it talks alot about “natural” deaths and helping their families, i might be wrong but maybe it’ll help ....or not

So, clue 5 is the first clue that refers to the others - suggesting it is the last (and given that it’s magic number 5 is quite likely - and the megashow coming up in a few days)
I’m guessing then, that we should link the clues we already have together - using the other ‘side clues’ to help us along.. how does each clue confirm and relate to the previous?

I’ve worked on this and written nearly a page in a half in MS Word.. and I’m half-way through the 3rd clue. Either I got no life, this shit is way complicated, or I type too much.. I’m not quite sure.
Well, my two cents, the WhiteMariposa website talks about contacting them if you or someone you know has lost relatives on the White Mariposa.
EDIT: Also, the text on the boat picture is La paz en la naturaleza, which I think means “peace in nature,” or if we’re getting completely guero’ed “natural peace.”

thank god somebody finally translated the phone message. so it gives an address? the problem with google maps is that those images can be old. I think if theyre giving us an address its on puprose. somebody should go there hahah. anyone know anyone in Miami?
i’d guess a definite clue. it’d be nice to have a picture that is definitely up-to-date, but this could be interpreted metaphorically.
such as White Mariposa itself being ‘under construction’ or unfinished, possibly permanently.

a short, simple examination of the clues viewed backwards, as the 5th clue may be telling us to do:
1. “reach white mariposa” - this could be from a woman’s point of view during a war inside of Cuba. “Reach white mariposa” basically asking for her message to reach a lover or family member.
2. “_fanned by a _pale mist the heart _flutters” - this “pale mist” could be viewed as the various white mariposa butterflies (mariposas blancas) that find their way to a lover on the battlefield (‘fanned’ as they fly or glide through the wind) and in return causing the receiver’s heart to ‘flutter’ as he’s reminded of his lover at home.
3. “love keeps the stars in the firmament and imposes rhythm on the ocean tides - maya angelou” - this could simply mean that our male character’s reminders of his woman at home and love for her keeps his world intact and in sync in what is such an unstable condition/position he is in within this war.
4. “waiting to breathe” - perhaps the woman at home is pregnant with a child who is ‘waiting to breathe’.. or maybe our male protagonist is waiting to breathe in some sense of entering a new life or world without the struggles he’s been dealing with.
I think that the HCK to Homecoming King is straight coincidental now that we figured out the White Mariposa = HCK clue. So, I think we should avoid making any comparisons at this point.
