As far as I know, yeah.. maybe it has something to do with his mother’s death and his father raising him to be who he is rather than literally developing him in a womb to be who he is.. or maybe it has something to do with his own child?
Now i have not listened to My Lady in a long long time, but doesn’t it have to do with losing a women in his life? If true, then the album could be based off of the mother dying during birth, with the child surviving and the story of the father trying to be a single father raising the child in a way the mother would be proud, or something. Maybe the trials of being a single parent trying to provide and be there for the child when you are the only one. Idk just some random thoughts.
Maybe just the location is what’s relevent. What I mean by that is they used to be located in the center of Miami, FL but now they’re relocated damn near on the shore of FL and the Atlantic Ocean. One thing that comes to mind for me when thinking about the relocation is the sound of birds and an ocean tide in the background of “My Lady.”
Within “My Lady” Tone talks of meeting this “beautiful, beautiful woman” when speaking to his deceased mother. With WMMS you can go out to sea and revisit loved ones who’ve passed away. So, it might not be obvious, but I see people going BACK from their new lives to reflect on the past in both of these instances.
Also, this one line from “My Lady” has always bugged me:
“‘Cause something within me loves to pretend that you’re my mother again/”
This line makes the situation appear as if someone has replaced his mother. Has he gained a step or foster mother since his biological mother’s departure? Or could it just be another metaphor to show his ‘homesickness’?
Maybe I’m not looking for NEW clues/etc. and just finding more connections between older material we’ve been given and not really moving forward with any of this. *shrug*
BTW, if you still want to update the original post, I think the seahorse image has been confirmed as CATM-relative. lol
Turns out theres this guy in the “NY Jaycees” named Hector Concepcion who came up with this idea to sell kites during some Jaycee picnic. He called it kite-rina and all the proceeds was donated to the victims of Hurricane Katrina by the US Jaycees.
just do a search for Hector and you’ll find it. I mean its a longshot but alot of people worldwide were affected by Katrina. I remember when Cunninlynguists and tonedeff performed in Stockholm at nalen stacken, think it was Deacon who dropped some freestyle for the Katrina victims. Maybe the mood of the music that kno produced/is producing for CATM is influenced by Katrina.
as I said its a long shot and Im tired, gonna go to sleep now.
love keeps the stars in the firmament and imposes rhythm on the ocean tides - maya angelou

is it me or do all three of these clues seem to make more sense in relation to the FetusSeahorse ever since the confirmation that the seahorse has to do with CATM
fetus waiting to breath, ocean themes, a baby’s heartbeat as it’s born by the ocean or left by the ocean
Aside from the similarities between the White Mariposa Memorial Services and “My Lady” that I pointed out before, after listening to “My Lady” a good 50+ times over the last couple days, I think it’s very possible that the person speaking to his mother could be onboard the White Mariposa ship. Multiple parts of the song would match up perfectly with it that refer to the water (lyrics and sounds).. I’m too tired to go back & forth and point them all out, but yeah. Maybe there will be a video for it or something like that.. zzzzzzzz
Some new things I didn’t see mentioned. Check out these lyrics:
“I kiss a ring of diamonds
Take pride in the queen my bride is
Her Amphitrite to my King Poseidon
And she’s decided in her sneaky slyness she’d conceive a titan
I’m uneasy, I can feel the heightened fear inside”
Now what if “titan” is “Triton”? Triton was “a son of Poseidon and Amphitrite (or Celaeno), who dwelt with his father and mother in a golden palace on the bottom of the sea” and was a “fish-tailed sea god.” Seahorse, baby (or seahorse-baby). Gotta look into that a bit more.
“And even through the doom and gloom
As soon as the moon can be viewed in full
I saw a star in the heavens; I knew it was you
My anxiety is through the roof
Can’t deny the irrefutable truth
That I’m alive in lieu of you
And in the silence of your tomb
I hear your cries as you’re consumed
Your spirit ride, illuming under the twenty thousand hues of blue”
Adding a bit to the Cuba theory, the Cuban flag has a star in it and these lines could be from Fulgencio Batista’s point of view where he’s leaving Cuba in 1959 in a rush but can still “see” Cuba (or metaphorically, the star on its flag). He would be alive in lieu of Cuba because he escaped as Cuba was taken over by Castro (signifying Cuba dying or put in a tomb in his eyes).
“Fade out
Zoom in
I felt your heart as I grew in your womb
The constant bass is soothe in tune
I drew from you like still-lights
Was still born with room to move
I’d use in pursuit of my roots
I would later be groomed to lose
Last June I tattooed this date in numerals under my chin
The last place ever touched by your skin
‘Cause something within me loves to pretend that you’re my mother again
Though I barely remember you tucking me in
There’s a constant nagging
My subconscious acting up
Thoughts that’s drawn from the past”
“Fade out/zoom in” could a flashback from the time he fled to when he rose to power.
“Was still-born with room to move” - he was stuck in last in the 1952 election polls before he overthrew the current president. Election would’ve happened in June but I don’t know what else June goes with.
“would later be groomed to lose” - he was overthrown himself in 1959.
“pretend you’re my mother again,” “barely remember,” “constant nagging” would all describe memories he has of his homeland and perhaps he regrets leaving.
“Mom and dad arguing again
Saw your chance, so I guess you took it
You had the heart to match the strongest hands that God could grant a woman”
Thought this could then be Cuba speaking to Batista and “mom and dad” would be the US and Russia during the Cold War/Missile Crisis but obviously Batista isn’t a woman!

“THE TITANES were six elder gods named Kronos, Koios, Krios, Iapetos, Hyperion and Okeanos, ons of Ouranos (Sky) and Gaia (Earth), who ruled the cosmos before the Olympians came to power.”
“The sisters of the six Titanes—Rhea, Theia, Mnemosyne, Themis and Tethys—were titled Titanides (or female Titanes).”
“Many of their sons and daughters also received the appelation of Titan including Atlas, Prometheus and Helios.”
The Titan-king being Kronos, whose father to Zeus among others.
More on Amphitrite, it seems her parents where titans, which could make her a Titan as well even though it is not mentioned explicitly on the page.
She has two sets of parents, maybe different in different stories? Anyways Okeanos and Thetys are both titans which could make Amphitrite a Titan as she is an offspring of two Titans.
Also:
“The most ancient passages in which she occurs as a real goddess is that of Hesiod above referred to and the Homeric hymn on the Delian Apollo (94), where she is represented as having been present at the birth of Apollo. When Poseidon sued for her hand, she fled to Atlas, but her lover sent spies after her, and among them one Delphinus, who brought about the marriage between her and Poseidon, and the grateful god rewarded his service by placing him among the stars.”
And now to the verse:
“Her Amphitrite to my King Poseidon
And she’s decided in her sneaky slyness she’d conceive a titan
I’m uneasy, I can feel the heightened fear inside”“
According to history before Apmhitrite joins up with Poseidon she flees to Atlas (who was a titan!) What if the verse says that Apmhitrite in the song cheated on Poseidon in the song with Atlas which would lead to her concieving a titan?
Edit: Poseidon seems like he could have been a Titan as well , so it could be any of the offspring from Poseidon + Amphitrite as well :S

nice idea
mixing it with the following part of my lady:
And in the silence of your tomb
I hear your cries as you’re consumed
Your spirit ride, illuming under the twenty thousand hues of blue”
it could be this setting that avokes the memories in the charakter, who then reflects about the person they are about to bury in the sea, thinking of the revolution etc.
So the album could be told in a review mode, starting on the boat and then through the protagonist, tone, telling the story of his and the other persons lifes, probably a woman, maybe mother, maybe first love, who knows, which could then incorporate almost all the aspects we have talked about up until now.
Revolution
Cuba
America
Memorial service etc.
Plus this way every song could be about a single episode of their lifes and through that have a different meaning and symbolism every time, above the story always being told as a backflash? (talking of backflash: breathe out…. calm down. Ok I want to go on: Zoom in. The protagonist could pick any episode, basically random, and through this analyze anything he wants to critizise in our time:
Hip HOp
Love
Society
etc.)
It would be a coherent story, yet tone would not be bound by it.
Not a particularly big point, but a cool nugget of info nonetheless. For a while these lines from MY Lady were bugging me:
“As soon as the moon can be viewed in full
I saw a star in the heavens; I knew it was you”
I knew there had to be some significance in mentioning that there was a full moon when the narrator saw the star. I did some research. Apparently the light emanating from dim stars isn’t visible to us against the strong light of a full moon.
The narrator thought the star was his mother because it had to have been an exceptionally bright star for him to view it.
Read the following thread to see how “My Lady” seems to be linked pretty tight to Homers “Odysseus”. I see that this subject hasn’t been mentioned too much in this thread.
Not sure if this was mentioned, but the son of Posedion and Amphitrite was a merman name Triton. Maybe this represents the narrator’s mixed identity as both a Cuban and American.
