Went through old tonedeff stuff today since I’m on a deff binge after the megashow. Those projects reminded me how ahead of his time he is. Morethanthis, fast, monotony, and especially circles have an eternal relevance and impressiveness.
As much as i like those releases, I cant honestly say i like them better than what ive heard this year.

Like i said, im waiting for CATM to take top honors this year. But i would have to be delusional to ignore the quality efforts being dropped by non QN5 affiliates.
While we’re on the topic of great releases this year, I just wanna say that you owe it to yourself, above all else, to listen to Common Market’s “Winter’s End” EP. Sleeping on them is criminal.
Tone and Kno couldn’t have picked a better year (at least this decade) to test their utter dominance in the realm of hip-hop. I think that, when we look back on 2009 in a few years, people will see this as one of the best years in indie hip-hop ever since “indie hip-hop” became what it is. Lots of great material from some of the greatest people in the genre has or will be coming out this year. Just incredible, really. 2003 is up there too.
Dont know about that, 2007 would probably be at the top of my list. Loved quite a few of those Rawkus 50 releases. That was like christmas. Though looking at other years its hard to be dissapointed with any of them. When you can make a Top 10 and not even have 1 mainstream release on it, its pretty crazy.
