Tonedeff My 2010…

MIC said:not rly, he was involved in maybe what 10 songs last year? stop reaching, we both know what I’m talking about

10 songs is sometimes a full album…most people put out an album every two years. So if your count was 10…on top of all the production and executive producing of all the QN5 (except for CL) releases…that seems like quite a year. And lets not for get…he’s ‘nice with a day job’...

Amen. If I can get 10 Tonedeff involved songs a year, I’m good to go!

rly rly rly silly. you didn’t pay the guy for the music yet.

Tone needs to give me an estimation of how much money I need to set aside for QN5 this year. London is expensive, dammit, but I want my QN5 goodies Smile

I think it’s a compliment to Tone that people get so frustrated with CATM getting pushed back. I know I’m certainly itching for it. It does annoy me that some people seem so unappreciative though, what people have to remember is that age old tenet of QN5 that quality > quantity. I still listen to Archetype on a regular basis and it sounds just as great as the day I first heard it.

You just have to be patient! There’s no two ways about it. Last year we were blessed with some true classics that’ll be with us for along time. QN5 never fail to deliver quality music, no matter when it’s released. I don’t care if I have to wait another 5 years for CATM, fact is that it’ll be out there and it’ll be something truly worth the wait!

Patience is all that is required!

Gimmie gimmie gimmie!!!!! <sweating and twitching peepin out thru the blinds>
I think everyone forgets there are other things to do besides pump out songs/albums.
Although making music is love its also alot of work….family friends and personal issues come up and usually will take 1st seat….just sayin

if I ever win the lottery/become rich i’m going to finance QN5 myself so we don’t have to wait forever in anticipation for these releases. REAL TALK.

seriously, if I ever win the lottery i’m giving qn5 a few million.

qft

QN5 No rich relatives

Okay, I think I know where Mic is coming from, so I’ll share my two cents on what I think he means (and what I think, to an extent).

It is NOT a case of being unappreciative. Obviously, we are all QN5 fans here. We love all the releases that QN5 puts out and like to support the label however we can. We all recognize and understand that most of this wouldn’t be possible without Tone’s work and effort. We really do appreciate it, even if everyone isn’t always vocal about it.

That being said, we still love Tone’s solo work. Tone is a fantastic artist with a staggering amount of talent and depth. You can’t blame us for being a bit frustrated. It’s not that we aren’t enjoying the work he’s done with the other QN5 artists (we do). The fact is that Tone’s solo work is a unique artistic product, just as a CL record is a unique product, or a Substantial record is a unique product. Tone’s work as a producer, although incredibly influential and remarkable in of itself, is still done with (what I presume to be) the aim of creating that unique product of the other QN5 artists. That’s what makes him a fantastic producer.

When it comes to his solo work (or CATM), there has definitely been reduced output over the past few years (understandably so). So, as a listener and supporter of the label, we’ve been experiencing Tone’s work mainly through the proxy of production work, guest spots, etc. etc. This is all well and good, but this is still not that “Unique” Tonedeff product. It’s not his complete artistic vision, it’s not always just his message. We have gotten solo material, that we’ve obviously all loved. But given the quality of what Tone offers as an artist, it can get frustrating that we don’t get more.

It’s been almost 5 years since Archetype. Have we loved Tone’s work with the other QN5 artists? Of course. But the fact is that we’re ravenous bastards who eat up everything QN5 gives us. It’s like eating an awesome fucking dinner all the time. We’ve had lots of amazing entrees, but it doesn’t mean that we don’t like diversity, especially when we know for a fact that a certain entree is fucking amazing.

We just enjoy Tone’s work so much and we want more. There’s nothing wrong in that.

^^^^^^^^^^^ WORD.

FUCK THAT

I want this album in my mailbox RIGHT THE FUCK NOW or bad shit is gonna start happenin.

Jk

Seriously some of y’all must be new. I waited 5 years for Archetype. I’ll wait 10 for CATM.

The W.W.K.Y.A. Tour with Extended F@mm

That’s all I seem to have on my iPod from 2009.

The next closest I see are ‘Warden’ (Love Lockdown Remix), and ‘Close’ off BBFP but they were both 2008. I must have seriously missed some downloads on the Blog.

Stuff Tone was involved in that we saw in 2009?

Vocals:
The WWKYA Tour (Substantial f/eFamm)
The Distance
Pervert (NumberNin6 RMX)

Production:
Bionic (Mr. SOS)

Other:
Executive Producer of Mr. SOS’s debut LP
Extended Famm’s LP becomes available digitally
CATM twitter account / clues
Constructed and performed at Megashow 2009 (preview of Sunrise, Crispy, and untitled CATM song)
CMJ Showcase for all of QN5
Signed Kokayi to the label
Released the first CATM t-shirt
A couple interviews
Released Inverse’s “So True EP” through QN5 digitally
QN5.com 5.0
Various QN5 videos for the blog, etc.
Released classic QN5 vinyls digitally
QN5’s Facebook fiasco
New QN5 logo

Maybe not a lot of brand new music that was released.. but Tone’s got a good bit of music in the works.

Yeah I wasnt critisising, just wondering if I was missing anything. With Tone im just patient because without his music being put on the back burner from time to time QN5 wouldnt exist.

...plus its always heat when we get it .

I wasn’t singling you out anyway. Razz

Just a straight up list of everything I could find to put that whole debate/question to bed.

Wait what? He did NEW vocals for the Pervert remix? Or should that just not be on the list?
