PackFM :: Official IFHR Album Discussion Thread ::

So I’ve been listening to IFHR at least twice a day since it came out. I am in love. I did as some others have suggested and made a playlist for the album without skits, which is actually perfectly timed for my trip to and from work. It does sound a little disjointed without the skits though, and I find myself listening to the album straight through most of the time.

This is hands down Pack’s best album by far, you’re trippin if you say otherwise. He is such an amazing lyricist. I can’t wait to see him perform Here We Go, and I’m jealous of people who got to go to the release party (and extremely pissed at any locals that didn’t show, boo). In fact one of the things I really like about this album is that I can imagine how wild these songs are going to be live. I’ve seen Pack perform quite a few times and this is going to be some of his best concert material.

I can’t believe Absolutely Positive is just a “bonus” track, but then again, I really like its placement on the album.

This album ranks up there with APOS for me—incredibly cohesive and I rarely skip tracks. Quality from top to bottom.

I’m definitely a QN5 fangirl and in general I find they can do no wrong, but this album is really really special. I’m so happy for Pack that it’s finally seeing the light of day and I’m sure everyone involved with the album feels very proud with the final result… it’s just so. fucking. good. I’ve been playing it for my friends and suggesting it to all of the hip hop fans I know.

Bravo, guys. Now let’s get a tour going Smile

Also, huge LOL for the “that’s what she said” line. I about lost it.

Good god “wanna know” is a muhfuckin BEAST….awesome hook Deac

Looked awesome live too, getting people to clap and whatnot..

This album is so good that I just bought the rage edition since I only got the cd when I pre ordered. I also got a friend to order the rage edition because I wouldn’t shut up about how great this album is. It’s constructed perfectly from the beats to the amazing lyrics and the awesome skits. It’s one of those rare albums where you have to listen to the skits everytime you listen to the cd to get the full experience. I definitely look forward to buying the rest of the QK10 plan albums this year.

DAMNNNNNNNNNN….. This whole cd just blew me away. Some have complaints about the skits or whatever but I think they fit perfect with album and they’re all great. I love the whole cd, my favs are IF***ing hate rappers, sire(love the extra verse),wanna know, flux capcitor,Take our place,I F***ing love everything, here we go,nasty..uh fuck the whole album is insane.

The skits make it a concept, I keep them in, I like to listen to IFHR just all the way through.

Yeah, I listened once with the skits and whilst I found them humourous I figured i’d take them out so I could get through the whole album on my trip to work, but it just didn’t flow the same. They had to go back in because they just bring context to the songs, and to be fair i’m still hearing new snippets in the background which are seriously fucking funny. The only one a find myself skipping is ‘Step on my Kicks’.

I’ve given this a rest in anticipation for my physical copy, then it’ll get car play again, which is fucking awesome. My whole car shakes Very Happy

anyone listening without the skits is a fool. they add to the entire flow and concept of the album

poll: let’s expand the discussion of this album. What’s everyone favorite line from each song?

1. IFHR: the entire song. I cheated here, but seriously the whole song should be quoted for truth

2. Nasty: “I’m fed up with irrelevant rhetoric cleverly dressed as intelligence
Sellin’ repetitive sentiments, instead of developin’ niggas is settlin’
Shit is pathetic forget it bitch”

3. Wanna Know : “if skills sold, truth be told, i’d probably be/
fuck that, yo, I’d still be me” AND “nobody’s running shit, everybody’s jogging/
nobody’s writing songs, everybody’s blogging/
record stores shut down, and customers log in/
give a new meaning to the term window shopping” lyricism and wordplay of the best kind

4. Flux Capacitor: “for you it’s just a fashion/for us the birth of passion/originality and now I see you try to cash in/expression of oppression and you biting like that’s in?”

5.Take Our Place: “I walk across to snatch the props I know I’m supposed to get.
For quotes I’m the poster kid, the G.O.A.T., I’m as close it gets.” b/c it’s braggy, but also very true.

6. Tough Talk: “Don’t get’cha children placed inside of a foster home
Forced to roamw all alone, daddy couldn’t hold his own” harsh times ten

7. Here We Go: “my better’s better then your better/and then better it’s like I got a vendetta for being a trendsetter/or trend deader whenever the trend catches a negative spin/ then I just pull out the pen, set it again/” such excellent flow, delivery, etc on this part. always sticks out to me

8. Sire: “6-11-77: the birth of your idol/Droppin’ 3 16’s like a verse in the bible” nice way to remember Pack’s birthday lol. that and the 3:16 line is hot fire

9. IFLE: “Don’t go gettin the wrong idea/I’m not a hater, you gotta believe me/Probably think that I got no standards/Cuz it’s just so easy to please me/” b/c it reminds me of me and how my friends always think I complain a lot about various things, but also claim so many random things to be my “all time favorite” or “the best thing ever”

I can’t stop listening to the I Fucking Love Everything Instrumental. Shit is soooo fucking dope.

neverbetter said:I can’t stop listening to the I Fucking Love Everything Instrumental. Shit is soooo fucking dope.

couldn’t agree more! Deac made a beautiful beat.. Extremely soulful vibe!

I’ve just listened to the ‘Closure’ instrumental for the first time and these words popped into my head:

‘A man is on trial, a thinking man’ like they somehow fit.

i couldn’t think what song that was from, I thought it was from ‘Things Fall Apart’ by the Roots for god knows what reason. Anyway, after some googling I found out it was from a CL song and went through each song until I found that it was from ‘Not Guilty’.

Those beats are nothing alike, I have no idea why I was reminded of that by ‘Closure’. LOL.

You’re going to see alot more deluxe packages dropping from everyone in the music industry over the next year+. It’s really the only way to get folks to shell out for music anymore. It’s prohibitively expensive to do (as we learned with the RAGE editions), but it’s also a cool plus for real fans.

We promise not to bastardize the format.

^^^^^

bastardize all u want. the rage edition was the first cd i ever got like that and it was the shit, and yea i see this as a marketing thing for the commercial scene as well cuz downloading shit reaches across the boards. i trust a qn5 package more than any other bullshit label’s attempt to please the fan package

Yeah, even if it’s a limited #‘s super super special edition kinda thing that’s a fair bit more expensive. I’d be game.

i would def drop serious cash for exclusive gear based packaging

Nice! The Chico and the Man special edition should come with a live seahorse (or at least live when shipped), signed by both Tonedeff and Kno.

Been absolutely BANGING some new PackFM out here in Trinidad. I think you just found a whole new audience.. Very Happy

(Yes, this post is a complete an utter excuse to tell you guys I’m in the Carribean and am very happy)

NYC for the megashow and then the Carribean?

Bastard.

I know this took forever but…

Fucking ill album! Favorite tracks:

1. IFLE (this beat reminds me of Styles P - How we Live)
2. Wanna Know (kno wrecked this beat!)
3. Sire
4. IFHR
5. Nasty

Pack delivers and is relentless. I liked the skits and thought they were funny, but they don’t have alot of replay value imo so i end up skipping thru them after a few listens. I enjoyed this album more than WDFMS4? and it feels to me that pack’s delivery has evolved since then. Packaging was ill for the Rage and that poster was funny as hell. Thank you Pack for bringin the heat again!

Dear IFHR,

I love you.. but my neck don’t.

Zack

Tim

God you guys. I tried to let it go when Zack said it but now that you had to quote it….

That’s what she said.

My favorite song on this album is “Wanna Know” hands down. And of course “Nasty” is a close second. I just wish “Nasty” was a longer song…sometimes I listen to it 3 or 4 times on repeat before I move on to the next song because I just can’t get enough…lol

I’ve never heard a flow like that on Nasty, its on some next level, taking rap music to a new dimension type shit.

Having listening to this on the regular consecutively since it’s release I can safely say that’s it my favourite non-CunninLynguists QN5 release, and likewise the best album of 2010. Still can’t get enough IFHR in my life.

“That’s not true, I make beats!” still gets me to laugh/smile/chuckle.

lol I never noticed how Pack says “Pause!” after Poison Pen says “Fuck me, you rhyme better” until now

i loved everything about this album from the skits to the tracks
