smh

Why smh? It just seems that Cleanupcrew doesn’t find any replay value in the skits, why all the disapproval?

My interpretation of the “Still supporting” remark at the end of the post implies that CleanupCrew is bumping a pirated copy. I could be reading into the words too much, but seemed odd.

Regardless, with as tirelessly as Pack & QN5 work to make sure their products aren’t disposable, it’s kinda nuts that someone would pay for a package and dump something that was well done for the product —especially in this digital age where a playlist can be made without the skits. Deletion is extreme.

Hey folks, If the skits don’t do anything for you, it’s all a matter of taste really.

As so many of you have already pointed out, they pull the entire album together.
In our opinion, they’re just as important to the flow of the record as the songs are. We take alot of pride in the quality of our skits (as our track record with them has shown), so we definitely encourage y’all to stick with em.

Still It is a free-country and this is goddamned Amurrrca! As long as y’all support by picking it up, you can reverse the entire album and chop/screw it to your personal preference.

Smile

Fuck that… I’ll still be the purist. Keep the skits and add the tracks to your PackFM playlist if you wanna shuffle the music while you do housework.

All I know is QN5 ruined me. I can no longer force my self to skip anything on a CD (even if it’s non-QN5 related). I never did this before I got into QN5 heavily. I freak out at my wife if she even dares to try to skip a track in the car lol.

And by ruin, I mean it in a good way Smile

lol, QN5 has definitely made me focus more on each track too. try to hang on and interpret/understand each word. QN5 bumped up lyrics’ priority alot for me

Celph_Titled said:I dont agree at all. If he bought the album and doesnt want to listen to the skits what the problem with that… his choice.

In fact im skipping skits too. I dont love albums for the skits i love them for the music. and the album works with skits, in fact is more cohesive with them as a whole but sometimes i just want to rock out to the music.

This is forum is full of people who praise and criticise just to seem ‘more’ of a fan than the next guy.

I skip the skits too sometimes if I just wanna listen to IFHR, Tough Talk, etc.

I thought saying he straight deleted the shit was kinda ridonkulous for multiple reasons really.. my afforementioned and some of what Amen said.

Me and some friends were in Vegas for memorial day weekend and, after a fun night involving copious amounts of alcohol, we woke up early the next day (7pm) and decided to hit the strip again. I wore my IFHR shirt, which for over a year now still recieves lots of comments none of which are negative, and carried my portable Bose speaker with various music playing. The album with the heaviest rotation and random head nodding and “yo who is that?” was IFHR. we went into every casino BLASTING that shit just walking around poker tables and slots. I’m sure a few people were annoyed but no one ever said anything negative, and all the positive comments would have outweighed them anyway. The Wynn was the only casino where we got rushed by security and were forced to turn it off right as we stepped in, so we said “fuck this place” and went to the next in line. Vegas loved it Pack. Thanks for a dope album, even though I’m sure no one expected less.

Yes, I do understand the skits give coherence to the CD, but now that I understand the context of the songs I don’t see the reason to have them to listen again.

I just felt like I had to say something since I saw nothing but praise, and that not everyone who loves QN5 necessarily thinks this CD is so perfect. Honestly I expected more. WhutduzFMstand4? kicks the ass of IFHR all day. For some reason I anticipated it being the other way around, perhaps I just have myself to blame for unrealistic expectations.

As for my comment about still supporting, I’m just referring to the fact that I have been a QN5 supporter (buying their music and getting friends to do the same) for a few years now, and will still continue to be. That comment was mostly to say I still believe QN5 is awesome, and that future projects will continue to be great. Bumps in the road are bound to happen.

Do you just realise you went against everything you said?! First you praised the album, saying it was quality, enjoyable music bar a few skits that you felt ya didn’t need, then you say the album didn’t reach your expectations and you felt it’s a ‘bump in the road’ in terms of QN5 standard.

Son, I understand if the album didn’t bold well with you, but seriously how did it not reach QN5 standards? In my opinion, PackFM’s lyrics are quoted as the most cathartic, passionate, truthful and controversial lyrics in his entire career. The album is constructed/blended well and the production is incredible, and this is not to mention the tons of goodies included in the ‘Rage Edition’.

So what exactly were your expectations?

I personally like IFHR over WDFMS4?. I also think skits are something QN5 has always done well simply because they are funny plus skits are a part of hiphop albums forever. The skits on IFHR definitely add to the album experience.

This is easily the best Pack album to date. Number of friends I’ve converted to Pack off the back of it: 2. Number of friends I’m still to convert: TBA, but lots.

Sounds like youre too attached to the the first album to give the new one a real chance to grow on you. this album is a lot more cohesive than the first imo. the first was all over the place in parts but it had some killer shit on it. this one is all killer imo.

I feel your “pain”!.. I usually skipped alot of songs and skits, but QN5-releases changed that.. I gots to have the whole picture now..

As for the whole “what’s best; IFHR or WhutduzFMstand4?” thing some of you guys have going on. - IFHR blew my mind even a bit more than WhutduzFMstand4, and THAT…. is one of the biggest compliments I can give on a Hip Hop release. True story!

PS. Is the shipping date for the pre-orders before the release date? Or just when does shipping start? I’m so anxious to receive my RAGE package!

I’m pretty sure the wording is that shipping starts on the 15th. Same day it’s released everywhere else.

According to our distributor, the album should be available in the following iTunes spots:

  1. iTunes U.S.
  2. iTunes Australia/N.Z.
  3. iTunes Canada
  4. iTunes UK/European Union
  5. iTunes Japan
  6. iTunes Mexico

Is that not the case?

Dunno why I didn’t see this post before now, I’ve read all the ones below it :/

But nah, that’s probably the case, the problem with itunes were that I couldn’t play the tracks in any other media player (and seriously, fuck itunes)...

ANYWAYS, enough complaining, the album goes hard! I dunno how anyone can dislike the skits, they serve their purpose perfectly and are funny as f*ck. ‘Support Group’ = 2010’s greatest skit.. Tonedeff’s “ask about his sister” comment on The Show created a thin beer cover for my monitor :/ Production is dope throughout the entire album, and Pack’s humor really makes this concept work perfectly. Honest opinions >> bandwagon rappers.. And I got to mention Wanna Know, got damn what a track! Probably my fav Deacon hook, beat is greatness and Pack came haaard on this..

If you buy them on Amazon they come as MP3’s and not MP4’s or M4A’s, whatever it is iTunes provides.

I’ve been mad busy and finally found time to write a tentative review. What I love about music is that you can have new feelings about a record the more you listen to it and as your life continuously changes - you reflect on art differently. You know… how we used to listen to albums back in the day. When it was for more than 1 week, a month, a year? Anyways, this will do for now.

1) The Support Group
Great introduction to the theme of the album. Perfect bed music for the tone of the skit. Tone and Pack definitely executed with creating the rehab setting. Funny lines. When Pack’s frustration grows I started dying. Good mix with him and the rest of the crowd. Good transition with the mastering into the next track.

2) I Fucking Hate Rappers
Beat:
The beat is just a banger. The vocal sample makes you do that squint face, nod your head, and do that hammer punch as if you’re aiming at Hitler. I like the chopping of the samples. Tone presents a variety of loops which keeps the beat from being repetitive. Cool drums for this track too.

Pack: Quotable after quotable: Pretty much showing why you’re hip-hop and how much you love it. The Dilla line, Lupe line, the fans line, ect. The emotion, heart, and energy is ON POINT. You rap like you’re still trying to get signed, it’s inspiring.

The Mix: On laptop and speakers, levels are tight. For some reason on headphones (pretty good ones) Pack’s voice is hard to hear at some points. His voice is at the same frequency as the crash and near some samples at some points so I think my hp aren’t producing it as well. Nonetheless, ill job Tone – you put mad time into these mixes. Mixing samples with live recordings can be a bitch.

3) The Show
The bed is awesome. I love the piano piece. With good headphones it’s really beautiful. Especially the high keys. The bassline is super cool too, funky synth vibe.
Great skit. Once again Tone and Pack do a good job with creating the image. The acting is on point. Message is clear. Fuckin’ promoters…

4) Nasty
Beat: Love this beat. Makes you do that face again (see above).

Pack: Some of the best flowed verses on this project. You fuckin’ rode this beat. One thing that’s cool and underappreciated is the adlibs and doubles on this song. Love the nasty whispers in the hook. Is that Tone doing the double with Pack in the chorus. Also the menacing laugh and all other weird human roars and shit. Definitely adds to the feel of this track.

Mix: Dope.

5) Wanna Know
Beat/Mix: The strings are awesome. Love the reverb like drums. There’s so much going on but I think Tone mixed it really well. The frequency range is wild with all the tracks on this session. Pack/Deacon heard fine. At some points I’d like to hear Pack a little louder, but anyone can nitpick cos’ there are a million playback engines out there all producing it differently.
Pack: So many strong lines. If lyrics sold truth be told/fuck that still be me line – church. You’re just mad honest on this whole record man. It’s ill. I don’t want to sound repetitive, but like my opinion on the rapping is the same almost on each track cos the heart, creativity, and lyrics are t here over and over. Dope.

6) The Kanye Look
Sound design is there again. Dialogue is funny. Fuck your swag and fuck tight jeans, let Pack rap.
Ps. Love when the girl goes, “Stop arguing….”

7) Flux Capacitor
I wish I wasn’t born in ’88 so I could appreciate this even more. Boom-bap. This is a track for Hip-Hop heads, especially the OGs. Way to give a nod to the culture on an album that is really appropriate for it. The beat also has cool effects panning making it sound like you’re time traveling and shit.
I love how you literally go in a timeline of shit from 88 till now. Bring it back.

Cool Take Our Place
Beat: Not my cup of tea in the beginning and then the beat comes in and I’m like, “daaaaamn.” Then you bring back the intro sample, nice touch. Love the ‘oooohing’ in the chorus. I feel like this is a song that will grow on people. The groove is so fucking ill. Could you consider a live band at least doing this song? The guitarist, bassist, and DJ would kill this together.

Pack: “you ain’t qn5, fuck it.”
Stan killed it as usual.
We’ve missed Mecca. Ya’ll all had quotables. Go QN5

9) Step on My Kicks
Break his face Pack. Poison Pen should be in every skit haha. Sound design is on point again. Good transition into the next song.

10) Tough Talk
Not crazy about the beat/track. The panning of stuff on this track is tight though. One thing I do like about this song is the topic. I’ve felt like doing the same thing at venues. Some people just try to be obnoxious to the live acts or to the rest of the crowd. Thanks for making an anthem Pack and Pen.

11) Here We Go
Beat: Live show is going to love this one too. Crowd Response is gonna be sick. Vocal sample is tight.

Pack: Cool flow once again. Switch it up! Rhyme scheme is super tight too. This will wake people the fuck up. Like the doubles on both L/R on this track too.

12) Sire
Loved this song since we got it after LA megashow. Probably love it even more to this day. 3 16’s like the verse in a bible. A music video for this would be dope just cos it’s so representative of that Pack vibe, but with more original songs on the project it should prolly be a different track.

13) I fucking like everything
Beat: Smooth it out.

Pack: You got good taste in life mayne. Appropriate track for the album. Anyone who says you were just complaining all album clearly didn’t listen…to the whole album.

Mix: Dope dope. Very clean. Most of the beats are more cluttered cos’ their elements, tone killed this mix.

14) Closure
Funny way to end it all. Like how it comes full circle like QN5 albums usually do. Funny dialogue on this too. Thing is, one day rapping won’t be ‘cool’ anymore and maybe that’s the best thing that can happen for the culture.

I’ll need more time to digest. The human highlight reel did his thing. Congratulations man, be proud.

So what exactly were your expectations?

I didn’t go against anything I said. All I ever said was that the lyrics are awesome and that it has more quality than most stuff that’s released nowadays, the second of those isn’t hard to accomplish. I suppose I expected more quantity (yes quality over quantity, but his first album had both). It’s great that there are five or six songs on this CD that I like and consistently listen to, but compare that to the 15 songs I like and consistently listen to from the first album (all of them). Can you see? One feels like an actual album, the other feels like some songs that are cool, but not enough of them to feel like more than an EP or bonus disc.

so I’ve read a lot of reviews and responses and I’m overwhelmed by the positive responses and I’m so glad people understand what I was trying to do with this record. Please if you enjoy this record encourage your friends to pick it up and give it a listen. it was made for people who love heavy beats and hard rhymes.

the one concern that has been mostly made is the skit/song ratio. please keep this in mind. I didn’t do this record to say “hey look how many songs I can make” or “look how long I can rap”. this album is basically a body of work as a whole. the skits are not seperate from the album in anyway. I put just as much effort into writing them as I did the songs. If I had my way IFHR would be 1 long track. The run time on this is just over 39 minutes. While you may be used to rappers trying to put out 90 minute albums that only have 10 mins of good music, that’s not my aim. Some of the greatest albums are under 45 minutes and just 10 songs deep (Illmatic, Be, In Rainbows etc.) Quality will always prevail over quantity in my book. I am extremely happy that the album left you wanting for more…and we have more instore for those who pre-ordered from http://ifuckinghaterappers.com (bonus download cards with instrumentals and lots of exclusive content)

as for IFHR vs WDFS4? in my opinion IFHR all day. I’ve grown so much as an mc since 2006 and I tried my best to exhibit that.

With that being said, please continue to enjoy the album and spread the word.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT!

Make that 3, with more still to come!

Just read the review on HipHopDX… I’ve been bumping CunninLynguists for what seems like a decade now, got turned onto Mr. SOS who has yet to disappoint me on the mic, and now Pack. Labels got a lot of dope artists and this is another one I’ll have to order; I doubt I can find it on the shelves.

I literally echo every thing kags said, song for song. I was gonna write a similarly long post, but he said everything already better than I could say it.

“The vocal sample makes you do that squint face” - That is the most perfect description ever. IFHR beat is just insane, I cannot wait for the instrumental.

The songs, the skits.. it all works together perfectly. The message of the album, as well as Pack’s ability and personality are conveyed brilliantly. I love how good Pack’s comic delivery is on the skits and some of the transitions (especially the support group) just set you firmly into the world of the next track. I like how the album ‘ends’ full circle with ‘closure’, but having absolutely positive is the perfect bonus cut to let you leave on a high note.

As for album comparisons.. it’s clear that Pack has grown so so much from WDFMS4 and this album is so cohesive and focused. Every track on the album feels like it needs to be there and couldn’t be anywhere else. WDFMS4 has been one of my favourite albums for years because it’s stood the test of time.. and I have no doubt that in 4 years from now I will feel the same way about IFHR Very Happy

Thank you Pack. Now I await my rage copy…

IFHR embodies what every ‘true’ hip-hop head thinks and feels about the genre but doesn’t want to say.

“I used to love h.e.r. til I found out that this hottie was a whore, now I can’t wait til she ain’t fuckin’ anybody anymore”

The message in this album is sooooo important to hip-hop. To me It’s like some people truly love hip-hop and its essence, but for so long its been made into something it’s not, all because of money. So now the place we’re in is like the down slope of corporate america raping hiphop, because its not making the same money that it used to, so there is more independents and the true heads are still around and just waiting for it to go back to its original authenticity. We all fucking hate rappers, let’s hear MCs.

As for this whole WDFMS4 vs IFHR debate, I just see them as two very different things. WDFMS4 is a statement of intent, showing what Pack is capable of. What Pack stands for! It was his major introduction to the world and goes from club kick offs to love songs, to comedic songs to songs about his history and ends very very strongly.

IFHR is focused around one concept, fucking hating rappers. For real though, that’s not what it’s about IMO (pack may disagree lol), it’s about the saturation of rappers and rap music in the market and not being able to pick out the proverbial needle in the hay stack. The skits tie this whole concept together well, but to be honest I rarely listen to them now.

The two albums are very different things, and well, i’ll say that WDFMS4 holds a special place for me, that album has some excellent memories attatched to it, I was 18, I was on my first foreign holiday with friends, I was bumping Pack. I rarely listen to it now but when I do it has taken on it’s own meaning for me, much like APOS has. IFHR is smaller in scope, but more detailed on one subject and it still needs some time to stew for me but bottom line is that it it’s Pack rapping like a maniac over tight beats mixed by Tone.

What’s not to like? If you put a gun to my head right now i’d have to say I prefer WDFMS4 because every song on that album is a classic to me, but I don’t even look at it that way. They’re two very different beasts and they both deserve an objective view (I might mean subjective, I get the two mixed up).

Anyway, rant done.

I fucking hate fucking hating rappers without my copy of I fucking hate rappers to relate to while i’m fucking hating rappers.

Still haven’t listened to it yet, waiting for my RAGE pack before I listen. I have the digital copy on my iTunes but I wanna hold out. Only a week till they ship.

you guys are always so cryptic and secretive about everything, its almost painful Laughing

i cant afford to buy the album from itunes, and ill admit ive been tempted when ive seen it available for free download on some sites, but im holding tight for my rage edition. nasty and streaming IFHR on youtube has kept me going so far..

out of interest do you distribute albums to rapreviews.com? they review the cunninlynguists albums, ef@mm, bb4p, but havent reviewed archetype or wdfms4. i noticed tone has twitter’d one of the writers on a few occasions so they are obviously aware of qn5, but still no reviews..

Same here… Don’t get me wrong I love it when you guys put a single or 2 up.BUT I wanna take in the album as a whole. So I think this is the most patience I’ve had with a qn5 album yet…Physicals ship ina week ..it’s gonna be “NASTY”

ya i’ve been waiting for my RAGE edition, its been so difficult!

i got a $5 mp3 credit on Amazon, thinkin what else QN5 i can use it for…
