CunninLynguists Oneirology 101

Dreams have always been fascinating to me, so when I heard of Cunninlynguists new album, I new felt something special would be in store.

To prepare for the album, let’s post about dreams. Theories on dreaming, personal experiences (especially with lucidity), your favorite dream-inducing music/media, and general surrealism: post it all here. To me, Waking Life is the bible to people interested in dreams.

Here’s a short clip. It’s really interesting stuff: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dek5BXusvPE

As for my favorite dream CDs, they are: Circulatory System, Mickey Mouse Operation, In the Aeroplane over the Sea & Music From The Unrealized Film Script

Once, I had a dream I was laying in bed and a shadowy female form walked through my bedroom door and up to the left side of my bed, she was moving like a phantom but I never felt afraid at all.

She leaned in and whispered into my ear, “I’m trying to tell you who I am” and then turned and made a quick leave almost like smoke leaving the room. And then I woke up.

.......I think that I was visited by my Anima.

I thought this article was interesting. It gives ways to test whether or not you are dreaming. Apparently, during REM sleep light levels rarely change so if you flick a light switch off and on and nothing happens, you know you’re dreaming.

Dreams are so interesting to me I really don’t know where to begin. I believe ALL dreams have a meaning. I just gonna share a few with you and my thoughts and perspective on em.

I had this 1 dream a few years ago . My brother ,me and my uncle were driving in a camaro(just like the 1 he got for my mom) and he turns around and says he loves me . Normally I woulda thought nothing of it…..BUT he passed away over 10 years ago…strange.I took it as a sign ...or maybe i just miss em…

Another time I bet my buddy that the dolphins would beat the broncos. I didn’t watch the game the night b4 but I had a dream and all I remember bout it was dan marino was holdn a fist in the air and I hear a voice say “The dolphins beat the broncos the dolphins beat the bronco’s as dan is jogging on the field…..I wake up, I turn on the tv…what do ya know the dolphins won…

Not to sound crazy or anything but what if your dreams where better then reality and you were stuck in your dream..kinda like a coma but your just dreaming would you want to wake up or would you rather live in the coma ???? cuz YOU didn’t know it wasn’t real(wasnt there a book on this I think) I dunno if any1 has played Twisted Metal for ps2(roadkills ending) is kinda what Im tryn to say

90 percent of my dreams are intense battles with futuristic weapons….or me being hunted by groups of people from my past

Is this normal?

I’ve had numerous dreams where I win the lottery…then I wake up and realize I’m still broke. Pisses me off.

Another dream I used to have over and over when I was younger was I would get to school and realize I had no pants on.

I love playing video games so when a game is near release that I really want I’ll have dreams about it.

big fan of this thread

I sometimes have disaster/horror movie dreams co-starring my fair-weather friends

^^^
I get those sometimes. I once dreamt that I woke up in my house. Everything looked normal, but when I went downstairs the house was filled with a different family. They were eating breakfast and watching TV like they owned the place. Very upsettling.

i’ve definitely had dreams that were badass and felt so real but then i would be disappointed when i wake up and realize i was dreaming. sometimes i would try to go back to sleep and try to finish the dream and it would occasionally work

i still remember my first lucid dream, dont remember my age, but i was a little kid. i just remember being in the middle of a massive parking lot with a big institutional looking building on my right and feeling stuck. i looked up into the sky and started yelling “WAKE UP!” to myself because i realized i was dreaming. seemed like it took a couple minutes, but then i woke up…

I’ve delved deep into lucid dreaming and am psyched about this album.

I used to have perfect dream recall and a high rate inducing process. I tested a ton of stuff, mirrors, flying, etc. I once morphed a pillow into Charlize Theron (no joke!). Then, shit got serious. I somehow got stuck paralyzed in a dream for what seemed like hours.

Now, I don’t induce anymore. Though, occasionally I have a lucid dream, I forget them as soon as I wake. I really should take it up again.

CL is my favorite musical group. for them to make an album about dreams is like a dream come true.

I dream a lot! Every time something important is about to happen in my life, I have so many dreams about it the night before. My dreams also tend to be very lengthy and I seriously feel like I am dreaming about the same thing for hours at a time which causes me to oversleep.

Then I always have dreams about finding a huge bag of cash somewhere and spending it on stuff I want, only to wake up soon and realize that none of that money was real…worst feeling ever!

The concept of this album is fascinating and taking into account how fabulously executed every CL album is, I am anticipating the release of this album more and more!!

I used to have dreams when I was in high school and college where I’d have this huge crush on some arbitrary girl from one of my classes—and it would spill over into reality. I’d end up with a weird, very mild attraction to this person for 2-4 days after the dream.

Anyone ever had that happen, or am I a stalker? lol

^^ Id end up with a weird, very mild boner for 2-4 minutes after the dream but thats about it ya creep Smile

‘In the Aeroplane over the Sea’ is possibly my favourite album.

As for dreams, I love weird dreams. I have a recurring dream that I can jump really high, like hundreds of feet and then just float back to the ground slowly. In the dream i’m always getting chased by the police and the goal is to get into my house without them seeing which one I go in, so i’m jumping all over the neighbourhood. It’s one of my favourites.

If this album has the slightest tint of ‘Things I Dream’ we’re in for a C-word.

^^

That’s strange, I also have reoccurring dreams that I can levitate past tree tops, but I can’t fly. The dream was so real, I once woke up convinced that i could do it in real life.

Mine started as being able to jump down a whole stair well in one go and I could slow my descent down to the point where I was just floating down slowly. Really weird feeling but I love those dreams.

That has happened to me too! I had a dream like that about a guy in my class in high school and I ended up having a crush on him for a while. It gets weird after a while

I kinda get ya. Like you have a dream about a girl at school / work and you’ve NEVER thought of them in that way, and then for the next few days you can’t get them out of your head.

Last night, I had a dream that I found a never-ending supply of the the most delicious fruit snacks ever.. EVER. Y’all have NO idea.

I hate those dreams that are so awesome, they end up fucking with your mood the next day b/c it was, well.. a dream.

The other day I had a dream that I fell asleep.

Ive had dreams inside of dreams

I have dreams that I have sex with some girls I work with… It ends up being a Very weird day at work I tell ya…. Let me tell you 1st hand that 1 of my best dreams was when I was flying it felt so real and indescribable…... I wish I could fly frown

i had a dream that i was a blunt gettin smoked and i couldnt wake up….

dreams are interesting as hell. the logic center is the only part of the brain that basically shuts down during sleep, which allows for all that wild shit.

more curious. anyone ever experience sleep paralysis?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sleep_paralysis
I’ve never dealt with it, but I’ve heard it’s scary as fuck. basically a waking nightmare where your body is still paralyzed while you’re awake from REM sleep and you more or less have a nightmare.
Someone told me how he woke up to about a hundred black widow spiders just floating inches above him and how real it felt, but wasn’t able to move or do anything about it

My dad has sleep paralysis from time to time, he says its like the mind waking up but the body staying asleep. He said the first time he had it he’d fell asleep on the couch and he could hear his mum in the kitchen. He was trying to shout to her for help but couldnt move at all. He said he though he was dying. Sounds fuckin scary. Now he knows though he just relaxes and his mind goes back to sleep.

False starts are interesting too. Its where you dream that you wake up and go about your normal day. Then something strange happens and you realise your asleep, then you either start a lucid dream or it ends. People have claimed to have hundreds in one night.

All the time. Byproduct of migraine headeaches. Lucid dreams + sleep paralysis.

I can see in dim light and my mind makes the shadows into “people/demons” but I can’t move or wake up, shit is pretty fucking scary lol.
