Yo Pack…
I’m not really the “post on a forum” kinda guy, but i wanted to give you props for the show last Saturday. I was laughin’ with my girl as I watched those ACTS prior to Tunji’s set literally define the “I Fucking Hate Rappers” mindset for you.
Me: “You think Pack set this shit up on purpose???”
Her: ” Maybe…cause I hate rappers a lot more now”
But anyway…i was one of the 25 people that withstood onslaught of RAPPERS disgracing the stage and perpetuating the bullshit that seems to be inevitable at many hip-hop shows is the city of angels. By doing so i got to experience some raw, unfiltered, energy packed emceeing that only the best bring. (I’ve been a fan for a few years now but being in LA haven’t had the chance to see you live) Freestyles, fan requests, fan participation, bangin’ to “stomp” with us in the crowd…It was a killer a set and you laid it down for your fans regardless of all the aforementioned. So thanks…for representing the art form, being a professional, being laid back approachable before and after the show (turns out we have a mutual friend or two in LA), and most of all for being ridiculous on the stage. That kind of dedication and appreciation of your fans isn’t something you see everyday in Hip Hop. Amazing show…
(Lastly…to that cat at the front of the stage that recorded the freestyles…post that!!!)
I dunno, I thought those first guys were funny as hell (disclaimer: they’re friends of one of the guys I brought along from SF) and Cise was pretty cool when you could hear what he was sayin over the bass guitar. That second act though…. holy shit. It was like the IFHR album cover in real life. I got a picture of em when there were like 7 people on stage, including the fan dancing around with his bluetooth still on his ear. WTF was that.
I’ll be sure to post it up when I get the chance. I think my iPhone’s light was in Packs face a bunch though haha. I got to say Pack you made the journey from SF worthwhile!
i’d prefer no videos be uploaded
it was a dope/fun show, but if u weren’t there, u missed it
there’s really no incentive for people to get off their ass and come to events if the highlights are going to be shown the next day on youtube
but if anyone has pics please feel free to post!
i had alot of fun there, saw some great friends i havent seen in a while and had some SLAMMIN cookies thanks to jill
first off, thank you for gracing Los Angeles with your presence, and rocking your heart out for all of us that was there, Mr. PackFM sir.
jill needs to put up the pic of the 2nd opening act though. that shit was ridiculous how much it was like the IFHR album cover. Lots of poor showmanship. One dude rapping the entire time with a drink in his hand, other guy just rapping/texting on his blackberry, the “gangster”, etc. so bad.
saw another guy rapping into his camera phone in front of me in the crowd as well during the act…wtf
anyone in California that didn’t come out for the show deserves terrible pain. was a shame that a majority left after Cise, but it was pretty clear a lot of them were their friends.
it’s always nice to see no matter what size the crowd is, Pack always kills his live shows. This once was definitely not an exception. Pack got everyone in the crowd into it with Stop-Start and Stomp, did a lovely freestyle, took fan requests. Very happy to hear IFHR, IFLE, Here We Go, Sire, Nasty, Happy Days, Forevershine, Click Click and Spray, Suzie (was that all of em?).
Highlights: -PackFM freestyling my name, and gifting me with a signed copy of Forevershine vinyl thank you very much.
-hanging out with PretendGirl and her friends. Very awesome people. Thanks for the cookies. (you guys are always welcome back at my home)
-meeting Karakakaashskahshkaha and his friends (iMaraud?).
Alright here’s my recap of the night, in way too much detail.
First we get to the club, and of course my friend Walter has left his ID at JLee’s house. We’re all assholes, and don’t want to drive the 5 or so miles back to JLee’s house to get it because my friend Tim wants to see his buddies L.A. Phil and 1ManMafia perform. We spend a lot of time outside the club convincing the bouncers to let him in, considering he clearly looks older than 21. We have to get L.A. Phil to vouch for him, and I give the bouncers some cookies. Walter is told he’s not allowed to drink. We go in and the guy checking tickets writes on everyone’s hand with a ballpoint pen. My friend Brianna insists that he draw a unicorn on her hand, which he does after several minutes of arguing.
First up is L.A. Phil and 1ManMafia. It is clear that the crowd is not nearly as amused with them as we are. Mostly they just rap about being Jewish, and close with a song about losing their car in a parking garage. We find it hilarious, the rest of the crowd is bored and possibly angry. L.A. Phil bongs a beer out of a plastic lawn flamingo.
Next up is a group whose name I didn’t even care to catch. We’ll call them Clack Clack Blam Blam. A whole crew of guys just walking around stage rapping about some bullshit. A lot of them didn’t even have mics, they were just up there trying to look like rappers. They’ve got three people walking around the audience with huge cameras. The crowd is going crazy for them and seems to know all the words. Some dude with a sweatshirt and a bluetooth earpiece is dancing with himself. Eventually he and a couple of other fans get pulled on stage to do nothing but dance around. I start pounding beer because this could possibly be a long night. Tim and I are going drink for drink. Dudes are sticking cameras in our faces. Everyone is frowning but me, because I think this is the most hilariously awful rap I’ve ever heard.
At some point Walter says to me “Yo, I hope I didn’t just see what I think I saw”, and then refuses to tell me what he thinks he just saw. A couple minutes later Brianna says “Hey, did you see that guy on stage with the boner?” I can’t stop laughing and tell Walter that Brianna saw what he saw too. He starts trippin out. It takes us a while to realize that he thought the guy had a pistol and she thought he had a chubby. Walter concedes it was probably a boner, immediately feels gross for staring at that guy’s junk for so long, and the game “Pistol or Chubby?” is born, in which we determine that no one can ever be a winner.
Next up was Cise, who I thought was actually pretty good. There was a drummer, a bass guitarist, and a guy on the mic (I think Cise is the name of the guy, not the group, but I don’t know). We were standing right in front of the bassist’s amp and thus couldn’t hear hardly any of the words. The crowd is just as into him as they were into the last group. I’m pumped because there are an awful lot of people in this place and they are all really into the music. I talk to the girl next to me and ask about the group, she seems very excited. I have high hopes for Pack’s set if the crowd is this live.
During Cise’s set, I find Pack and ask him if he caught the second act, because they look just like the IFHR album cover. Pack says “Yeah, I was making the same face too” and then makes the face. Hilarious.
JLee’s friend falls asleep while sitting at the bar. I slap him on the leg to wake him up. This guy totally hates me.
Somewhere between Cise finishing up and Tunji taking the stage we turn around and notice that EVERYONE IS GONE. I’m super pissed. Tim comments on the change in demographic—basically, all the white kids are left.
Tunji freaking kills it, he performs Towards the Future, which I apparently slept on. This is my new jam. He also performed Spark My Soul, which was awesome. The people I brought with me are stunned at how good he is.
So then finally Pack takes the stage. There are a lot of PackFM and QN5 shirts in the audience—though there is little audience left at this point. Anyone know how many people were there? I tried to say that my friends and I made up 10% of the crowd but Tim says there’s no way there were 40 people left. So sad
As usual though, Pack can rock any sized crowd, and this crowd seems to all know his music. I’m getting pretty drunk at this point and I’ve already destroyed my brain anyway so there’s no way I could even give you a tracklisting. I just remember him starting a bunch of songs and stopping them almost immediately, including Forevershine. Before the show I gave him one of my Dr. Dre stickers that said “We’ll go at it punk, and I’mma fuck you up”. He performs Absolutely Positive and whips the sticker out of his back pocket. I feel special.
As usual he does an awesome freestyle that totally blows my friends’ minds, which I recorded. A few seconds into it he jumps down into the audience and starts going through the crowd rapping about everybody’s t-shirts. I have seen Pack freestyle a ton of times and I am always floored by how talented he is.
At some point early on he starts asking for requests. I yell out “Here We Go (Come On)” because I’ve been wanting to hear that live ever since I got the CD. He asks for more, and my drunk ass continues to belligerently yell “HERE WE GO” until he has to tell me to STFU (sorry dude). I request Forevershine because I was not satisfied that he didn’t finish it the first time around. He obliges. JLee requests I Fucking Like Everything. He winds up performing all of those, plus Sire, plus the obligatory Stomp performance in the crowd.
At some point in the night I had found krakashakahsksha and met his friends, who were all super cool. During one of Pack’s songs I insisted that he take a picture with me and JLee, since we’re all nerds and are wearing the same shirt. Brianna photobombs it because she’s evil.
Pack sees us taking the picture and jumps off stage right in front of us, still rapping. My friend snaps a picture. Brianna photobombs it again.
At the end of the show, Pack rips off his shirt and beams it at me. I threaten to cut any bitch who dares come between me and my PackFM shirt. LOL.
By the end of the night I’m so drunk that I have no business being out, but we continue to drink at the club, hang out with Pack, dance around to some Dr. Dre, and talk to the people who work there. I find out later that as I was going drink for drink with Tim, he had been slipping some of his beers to Walter. Bastards. When it’s time for us to leave, I go out of my way to hug the bouncers and thank them for letting my friend in to see the show despite him forgetting his ID. Tim tries to tip them a dollar on the way out, for reasons that we still can’t determine. As he tries to put the bill in one of the bouncer’s hands, it falls to the ground, and neither of them pick it up. WTF? Funniest thing I’ve ever heard.
Pictures of Pack with me and JLee:
After the show we make JLee go pick up some Red Stripes for us. The last time Brianna and I had giant Red Stripes was when we went to see Looptroop Rockers, which did not end well. So of course we were glad to have a repeat performance. Basically the night ends with us back at JLee’s house all getting completely wasted, making total fools of ourselves, and then finally passing out on the floor.
I don’t remember this picture being taken.
We spend the next day completely hungover, trying to get back to SF from LA. We don’t even get back until 9pm. I still have no idea how it could possibly take us that long to drive back. Regardless, we arrived safe and sound, looking like hell, but having had the time of our lives.
Thanks to JLee for putting up with our antics and giving us a safe place to party. Thanks to krakakash for bringing friends down from SF and helping us show LA how it’s done. And of course thanks to Tunji and PackFM for putting on an amazing show, which we as fans have come to expect.
I went down there with three people who had never heard a PackFM song in their lives and they were sad when it was all over. Next time there’s a show in LA, expect us all to be there, possibly with another car full of people.

I LOL’d IRL at those. Funny recap.
Sounded like a great show, at least the last half of it.

funny story, so last night i was walking into this party and i notice a plastic flamingo laying in the street, i remember seeing this picture, so i picked it up and made a beer bong out of it lol
Looks like it was an awesome night. Ahh Red Stripe, I was at a show in Liverpool once and Jeru the Damaja passed me a can of Red Stripe from the stage. Easily one of the most random things that’ve ever happened to me.

Well, I’m extremely proud of you, but you decapitated the poor guy. The key is just to cut off the tip of the beak.
In other news, I found someone new to party with for Megashow ‘11?
