fact: I use Tone and QN5 as the bar for many things
double fact: this will lead to you beating yourself up and wanting to jump off a cliff in a sense of inferiority
Ya know, it’s wild watching this again, because it’s crazy how much has changed since I shot this. Aside from Domingo, I don’t think anyone in that video wears 3X-Ecko anymore. It really does take me back to a completely different space in my life, like whoa.
But, at the same time, the more things change, the more they stay the same. All of the things I was doing on this record were so far-fetched at the time. Not so much these Post-Kanye-Everybody-Wants-To-Be-An-ARTISTE’ days, but the fact that they were being done when I did them makes this doc that much more poignant, imo. I got A LOT of shit from people for this album… and looking back, that’s exactly what I expected. And just as I predicted, all the hypocrites went “left” in the years following.
Albeit, completely contrived, the current musical landscape seems more willing to feign progression/diversity/fusion and all that shit. Perhaps folks are finally ready for true genre-less music.
Personally, I still feel there are a fuckload of closed doors and I’m itching to kick a few in. I CAN NOT WAIT.
Yeah it’s strange, this video is only.. what, 6 years old? And even though everything said is still legit and the music is still astounding, it feels ancient. I guess that’s to the credit of the progression of QN5 too.

Just got done watching archetexture all the way through since I wasn’t really around in 2005. It’s pretty awesome being able to see that much deeper into the album.
My favorite part had to be you reciting the verse from politics acapella. That gave me chills
I haven’t watched Archetexture in at least a year or two, but my favorite parts off the top of my head were always:
-The lost title track verse
-The Politics acapella in the coffee shop with the guy in the background who kept clapping and was amazed, lol
-The solo-ed harmonies from the outro of Porcelain
-JS-1 having some girl getting her ass eaten out in the background for no reason whatsoever
-Seeing the string quartet parts on Gathered being written/recorded

I went my whole life without making a youtube account but I gladly made one for qn5. On a side note, the archetexture documentary is what ultimately brought me to qn5.com about a year ago and made me check out the rest of the QN5 artists so I love it that much more.
