Don’t know maybe it’s old news but looks like Oneirology 2CD Edition is now again availble. http://cunninlynguists.bandcamp.com/
Good for people who still don’t have it.
Just joined here to thank you guys for the fantastic Oneirology, which was one of my favorite albums this past year, and your contribution to hip-hop over the past decade. As someone who usually listens to old school hip-hop (Nas, ATCQ, Biggie, Wu-Tang, old Outkast…) it’s very refreshing to hear a new album which takes elements from those older artists and blends it with deep conceptual lyrics and incredible DJ-Shadow like production. This totally transcends 99.9% of the bullshit artificial hip-hop (or music in general) we hear today and helps to progress the genre to another level. Thanks so much, love you guys!
Hey…I just recently became a fan of Cunninlynguists…I mean for the last two months, they’ve been the only thing I’ve listened to..specifically Oneirology. So, naturally I grew interests in Kno’s mastery as a producer..and spent night and day searching for the samples used in Oneirology…but upon finding..(almost) all the samples…basically just the vocal samples that were most noticeable….I noticed alot of hostility towards people talking about them publicly. so before i did anything stupid like release a list or something like that…I wanted to know what the problem is…does Kno not want them to be known? this is not meant to disrespect or anything..i truly want to avoid that…I have NO problem with keeping my mouth shut if need be..so i wanted to know if Know ever released an official decree to not disclose any sample sources…if so I will happily keep what i have found to myself..a few viral fist bumps isn’t worth disrespecting an artist like Kno’s work.
Sampling costs ridiculous sums of money if you want to avoid lawsuits and have whoever owns the rights to [random old song] be okay with you sampling them.
Or you can just sample a muthafucka and hope they never find out and come after you seeking whatever even more ridiculous dollar amount they demand for using their music.
So, the more people post about who Kno sampled on [random CL/Kno song] the more likely someone who owns [sample] or their Find-Me-Money lawyer is to stumble upon it and sue Kno out of his home and any chance of you ever hearing another CunninLynguists song ever.
Imagine this is Prohibition-era America. There’s a specific brand of single-malt you particularly enjoy. A group of like-minded aficionados posts a concise list of all the bars that serve said liquor, in the center of town.
