hey folks, used to be on the QN5 boards back when Hyphen was still available to buy, and i got a question for you’s. Let me explain though, i lost (almost) my entire record collection around 10 years ago, amongst them was Hyphen and the Monotone vinyls, as well as some early QN5 12’s. Never replaced them, got a few PackFM stuff on CD and the later Tondeff stuff, but i really want a copy of Hyphen on CD or vinyl, obviously original. so what i wanna know is how much have you guys paid for some of this stuff or how much would you pay? I was looking through ebay earlier and found Hyphen, Archetype (signed by Tone), and Happy Fuck You Songs all on cd being sold. I’m tempted to bid but Hyphen is already at GB£ 50+ still with 5 days left, i may go for Extended F@mm instead.
So, whats your limits? or how mucu have you ever spent on a hip hop cd from Ebay?
I replaced Master Ace Take A Look Around cd (amongst the lost) for around $30 but i dont think i paid more than that for hip hop. some jazz or soul/funk i spent more on.
I shelled out $150 for a copy of Featured Material Volume 1 to a dude who hit me up on Facebook one day.. I don’t remember what made me trust him enough to PayPal $150 and possibly get jack-shit in return, but it worked out. lol
And.. you mean Hyphen and Monotone CD’s right? Unless Tone super secretly pressed a miniscule batch of them on vinyl and never spoke of it.. lol
Usually £50 would be my limit for any CD.. althought I’ve got a feeling that Hyphen auction is gonna rape me. I ended up getting HFYS for $25 last year with international delivery.. just lucky I guess. Hyphen seems to come up for sale less often though, so feel like I just wanna get it in the collection and be done with it.

i dont know if i can justify spending over £50 for Hyphen, its not like i would listen to it a lot, its just one of those albums that needs to be in my possession before i can sleep easy! Plus i got my eye on some Bernard Wright and Charles Wright vinyls at the moment
I’d be more inclined to spend over the odds on Hyphen than the white albulum or SSV1just because Tone’s my favorite artist. I already have the album digitally, so the CD would probably never be played lol
but you need to have that physical cd though right?
i spent a fair bit buyin up a bunch of Dilla picture discs when the Shining dropped, varied between 5 and 20 quid each. got 6 copies of the pictured vinyl and framed them with a big us Dilla poster as the back drop.
^^ Agreed Hyphen would be my most wanted out of the three. And I prefer listening to physicals over digital. Plus once you have something like that you don’t have to spend for it ever again. Worth the money imo
thats what i’m thinking, it looks like it might go expensive but if i get it, thats it, dont have to waste any more time looking for it. plus it was payday yesterday so i get a few vinyl or one cd. when i say it like that its hard to justify
Probably $25 for Cold.Killed.Collected. Every album I own was bought at the original price or else I haven’t found a copy yet (Asterisk 1-3, White Albulum).
I’ve dropped over $50 on international vinyl orders. And shiiiit if I had hella money to throw around right now I would try to get all three of those CDs haha

I paid $60 for HFYS.
I paid $25 for HFYS delivered internationally last year… I fully expected it to be a fake when it arrived.
The funny thing is, when that Hyphen was at £60 I was like.. ah fuck it, I will bite the bullet and put a cheeky bid in at the last minute.. lol no chance
