I do not think an “attack” like the one above needs to be discussed in any length.
People value different things in artists - and no amount of discussion, hostility or name calling is going to change those views. If MIC does not value the aspects in Hip Hop Tonedeff brings to the table, let him. Just do not let him touch your values through his posts…

Hi, my name is Tony. I will be your customer service agent in attempt to provide you with the same level of service you’re accustomed to by your favorite musicians. This call may be recorded for quality assurance purposes.
MIC said:It’s one thing for him to complain that it was hard to run a record label in 2003 but for him to use it as an excuse for not releasing music in 2011 and keep complaining about it is just ridiculous.
According to our database, our system isn’t showing any account activity indicating any flagged complaints in 2011.
Putting out music is easy as fuck
We wholeheartedly agree! In fact, we plan on releasing multiple projects strictly comprised of unsolicited soundclick beetz, “Niggaz In Paris” freestyles, and recycled battle rapz - all mixed by Full Sail students to cut costs, zipped via winrar and slightly retitled after popular movies.
he releases 2 songs a year and spends more time complaining than he does putting out music.
The complaints about distribution are fucking ridiculous… if you really want physical copies just sell them in the QN5 store and mail them yourself.
According to our distribution log, we have been actively engaging in direct-to-consumer mailing since 2006, beginning with PackFM’s whutduzFMstand4?. We have followed suit on every single release since.
We’ve even included special tie-ins and gifts with our releases, as an added expense and loss of profit. [SEE BELOW]
It’s 2011, nobody is gonna randomly wander into a CD store and go hmmm Tonedeff, maybe this is good I should buy it. No.
The customer is always right and we agree wholeheartedly that brick and mortar record outlets are not only rare, but relatively ineffective in promoting a new release that doesn’t have a proper marketing budget and press coverage. With that said, we here at QN5 do not consider physical distribution as our primary concern.
Your core fan base is gonna go out of their way to buy your album if they want to buy it, that’s how it works in 2011. That’s all the sales that you’re gonna get.
As we’ve grown and serviced our niche audience over the course of a decade, our broader consumer reach has stagnated within the past couple of years, due to our reliance on direct-to-consumer distribution and word-of-mouth promotional techniques. While the direct-to-consumer approach has been far more profitable (and time consuming) for my label, the word-of-mouth promotional approach we’ve employed since 2007 has failed to provide favorable results. This combination has proven ineffective.
Going forward in 2012, we will be re-initiating a traditional pay-to-play method of promotion, wherein we speculatively pay “tastemakers” to associate our names with Wiz Khalifah and Yelawolf on Pitchfork/WorldStarHipHop to generate interest in our newest artist-driven concept album release. It is our understanding that we will not sell any iTunes singles in 2011 unless we have over 30,000 followers on Facebook and Twitter and pay for 1 Million YouTube views and a featured spot. With that said, we have crafted a 32-foot chocolate piggybank to hold our savings and eat the cost in order to make this happen.
Also, don’t promise fans things and not deliver. It’s a bad look when it becomes not only a consistent thing, but a thing that happens 100% of the time.
Step 1 Make a promise
Step 2 Work Hard
Step 3 ????
Step 4 Profit
I’ll give you a hint, step 3 isn’t “don’t deliver on promise and come up with excuses”
We understand that you are saddened by the recent announcement of the postponement of the forthcoming Chico and The Man album by producer Kno and have felt compelled to lash out indiscriminately with baseless allegations on my official discussion forum, but rest assured you have our attention. We will do our absolute best to see to it that that your emotional needs and unrequited musical desires are addressed in the quickest possible manner.
I am here to serve you and I look forward to providing you with more output to critique on internet forums.
0 valid arguments made so far, as i expected
I wholeheartedly agree. I hope that my assistance was helpful to you and that you have a fantastic day.
MIC: You probably sob so hard a small trail of snot puddles on the precipice of your upper lip when Tonedeff takes a long time to make teh rapz, huh? What do they taste like, these sadness boogers? Are they salty? Do they bubble?
If an artist’s lack of output is enough to make you get this angry and awkwardly emotional you need to reassess your priorities, “bro”.
