Jokes aside, I’m so caught up in him getting the exposure more so than what’s coming that I hope we just get the music video seen. Music Videos are the viral lottery ticket nowadays for artists.
I’m honestly contemplating finding Fantano’s mail address and sending him a polymer package that says “listen or else…” lol.
Five Sisters. I feel like this song is the best choice as a video single.
First of all, it is a great track. Packed with personality and meaning as well as great production.
Secondly it also displays Tone’s versatility. You want tight rhyme schemes delivered faster than your average rapper? You got it. You want hard-hitting personal truths that resonate with you? Yup, that too. You want beautiful, beautiful sung parts and outros? Yeah, you got that too.
And lastly, Five Sisters simply has the perfect balance of accessible lyrics and production as well as song structure. Because actually Competitive Nature might lyrics-wise and production-wise be even more accessible, but the 7-minute format throws a lot of people off. Five Sisters is a 5-minute verse-hook-verse-hook-verse-outro song and therefore more fit as a single in my mind.
Also, Sunrise becomes more and more beautiful as I learn about the demon. The demon is clearly that voice in his head that fears time and needs to get everything done now. It drives him to excess because the fear of not accomplishing things. For someone who is paranoid with time , there’s nothing more fearful than a sunrise because it represents the next day which ultimately means you’re one day older, one day closer to death. With all that in context, sunrise is a beautiful song.
Super excited to see how Filthy turns out - although its kinda crazy that it’s the first video to be released since the album dropped. Gonna catch some people off guard there!
Filthy XXX, though? Totally caught me off guard.
It seems like the least video-friendly track on the album (unless straight to pornhub, as has already been mentioned).
One of the big themes of Polymer though, looking at the EP to album differences, CONTEXT! I’m very interested to see how it works out.
Tone had spoken previously about regretting to release Pervert as one of his first singles for Archetype. He’s doing things his way now and not placating to mainstream media. I can’t wait to see how he pulls this off, and it’s gonna be awesome.

Great call-back. He did say that the songs that ended up being most popular (Porcelain and Pervert) were his original ideas for singles and he wished he had stuck with it. “Use Me” and “Filthy XXX” aren’t too far off from that duo.
Woooooooow - that was actually really funny (the guitarists face - same guy from megashow? Tone wiggiling up and down in front of the singers and that ending). This was somehow tasteful.. Impressive.
I wonder how many drinks they must of had beforehand? Haha
Funny side-story: back when glutton came out I was joking about an acoustic cover for this song and thought it would be great if a female singer did one. Somehow I managed to convince my girlfriend to give it a go (she’s generally old-fashioned and prudish, at least in public).
First we recorded guitar seperately for the song. Then we layed down some keys, leaving the vocals til last as a seperate track. I really didn’t know what to expect, or even if we’d see it through.. But we ran with it and tried recording her sing.
We were living at my dads place at the time and it’s a really posh middle-class neighbourhood where we’re already the black sheep of. Anyway the verse started well and was pretty cool.. Then out of nowhere when the chorus dropped, she got some crazy strange confidence and BELTED out the lyrics.. Like.. LOUD.
My face immediately turned to sweat and I began to hunch my head into my shoulders and cringe. She was going all out and the whole street/my dad MUST of heard us.
It got to the end of the song and I turned to her, raised eyebrow and bewildered expression like “what the fuck?” - but she misinterpreted my awkwardness for dissing her performance and became instantly self-conscious and threw a tantrum. She deleted the project file and refused to ever do it again - in fact I think it turned into a big argument.
#IWFYDP = best choreographed moment, hands down. Quality gif, hashtag, and meme material.
The ending (disapproving spank) made me lol.
V2 is definitely still my favorite, but I like that 2edgy4me type stuff. But it’s really interesting how the same song can be irreverently funny on the one hand (a la this music video) and devastatingly earnest + self-loathing on the other.
As Epic said in another thread, I’m mostly happy just to see Tone smiling and having fun—especially after as serious an album as Polymer.
