Seriously… QN5 has yet to disappoint. I probably enjoyed this more than the megashow to be honest with you; more intimate setting, a few surprises, no getting kicked out right after the sets, etc.
So the doors opened at 9, but knowing me I show up before 8. The place is mad casual… there are families eating dinner with no knowledge that the roof is about to be blown off the damn building. So anyway I’ve got time to kill… I called up some friends who were under 18 because I wasn’t carded; got them to roll through. Kicked it with DJ Primetime for a bit until the show finally started.
We all had to sit through a group known as Disciples of Logic aka Disciples of Alcoholism and Shitty Emceeing. I gotta give the one black dude from this group props though, cause when Tone did “Issawn” he freaked the fuck out like I’ve never seen anyone do. Anyway, gave up on these cats and went to the back to grab up that Goya shirt and say whatup to the QN5 family.
“Gotdamn,” you’re saying, “give us the recap of what we’re interested in already.” So be it.
Primetime spins some more records and Icon finally takes the stage. Now I’ve heard Incricate Spectrum and known about dude for a long time, but seeing him live is something else. The man is a presence. Later on he did some blindfolded freestyling about whatever objects we handed to Pack, and it blew my mind. I don’t remember what he rhymed with my visine bottle but it took him all but half a second to come up with something ridiculous.
Pumpkinhead tore it up with the usual acapellas. “I’m so fly I should be on an Ethiopian’s face,” and so on.
Icon brought out Jus Allah (formerly the better half of JMT) for a track.
GMS, Blitz, and Pumpkinhead did a few tracks.
Substantial ripped it up.
Session ripped it as well.
I recognize that the whole EF@amm is present. Ooooooh shit.
Pack immediately gets the entire crowd into this set in about 1.3 seconds. FMackalicious, Forevershine, Spit in the Wind, a new track from the point of view of a graff writer, Stomp… and I probably forgot a few.
Mr. Deff comes on next… kicks it off with Heads Up. Then into Clear ‘em Out, Pervert, Porcelain, Spanish Song, Politics, Issawn, Case Closed, etc. Tone and Pack also led the ever-so-popular “make a radio hit on stage” in which I was dubbed “Tom Jones.”
Cunnlynguists come out to finish things off. Thugged out Since Cub Scouts, WCG, Be Free, Since When, Mic like a Memory, Beautiful Girl, Hellfire, America Loves Gangstas, Hourglass, Southernunderground, Kno’s verse from Dying Nation… and probably a few more. Unfortunately, I was driving 3 people home to different parts of the city and was so tired that I had to bounce during their set. If EF@mm came out with Line Drop and Fuck You I Rhyme Better AFTER that CL set…. no one tell me. Actually, do.
All in all… it was quite a night. I feel like hip-hop shows in Philly are on the come up; maybe we’ll start getting some more shit now. Props to everyone who came to support and of course QN5 for putting on one fuck of a show.
and i actually might try to pull off the b-more show as well… seeing as meth’s gonna be there. i envy all of you who get to see qn5 and blackalicious up in buffalo.

just wanted to thank everyone who came out it was a great show and everything went smoothly execpt the minor bullshit i had with the venue. qn5 ya did your thing and i hope we can do it again in the future.

and yea i prided myself on doing a real shitty job on carding. i only carded heads that were trying to drink i just made anyone under 21 show a id so it gave the aperence that i was making an effort.
i told them what i was coming for and payed. hopefully that went to you or qn5 and not the restaurant because i showed up so early? if thats the case that’s a bitch move on their part.
