Mr. SOS & Tonedeff: (Webcam Interview)

“Love the Bomb is one of those albums that reflects the mindset of the information age calling in to question the public’s simplistic beliefs while flawlessly accomplishing verbal aerobics across a deep composite of amazing DJ work.” - Mike Hedrick (Musical Assault)

“Mr. SOS lets us know what the future may hold if the state of the world continues in its present ruinous way. Rather than critiquing the world as it is, however, SOS develops his futuristic vision amidst eerie soundscapes and chilling rhymes.” - Gilmore (Vinyl Meltdown)

So hyped for this. Pre-orders to be sent off in 14 days!

Word. Really looking forward to hearing SOS’s first full album.

If “Bionic” sets the standard for the quality of music to be found on this album, then it may just get my vote for album of the year. From what i’ve heard thus far, this sh*t is unsane…

Can’t wait for my pre-order to arrive…

Got it this morning ! Can’t wait to get back home and give it a listen.

got this bitch today, am listening now. smile

shit is the illness, put that qn5 bomb logo on the cd onto a shirt

I need this. If I don’t get it for Thursday i’ma be angry Very Happy

I thought there was going to be a track with Chapter 13? I mean, I see that Zero Basement is on “Work” (“Fuck my Job 2” Very Happy) but where is Kory at??!

YEAH BOYEEEE!!! Arrived today, listened to it twice already- need to get back to uni so i can blast it on my proper sound system though- liking the Chew Fu remix more than i thought i would.

Nice one SOS!!!

doc doc d-doc, doctor strangelooovvve

This shit is incredibly ill. I’m actually not even past “Dr. Strangelove” yet. ha!

This album is awesome.

i like the whole cd… save you is my shit.

THE BALANCE IS MY SHIT!!
and i really really like the Bionic Remix by Chew Fu!

But it’s my first listen.. and y’all know tastes change as we listen!

^^^^^^
Balance is def my favorite track and apocalyptic doomsday is prolly one of the best intro tracks ive ever heard

This whole album has my head nodding with no stop. my neck will break.

Long time fan, first time poster
it isnt often that I like an album this much from the get go and keep spinning it
The futuristic beats are insane and the whole idea of the album around the Dr. Strangelove movie is just incredible

and i actually feel the Chew Fu song is the perfect ending to the album Smile

Listened to it twice so far. The concept and execution were excellent. Right now, I think my favorite track is Time Capsule. Apocalyptic Doomsday, Bionic, The Balance and What’s MK Ultra were also up for consideration. Not that the other tracks were any less stellar.

Yeah, although I was a bit dissapointed the Bionic Remix didn’t actually have SOS on it.. the instrumental kinda rides out the end of the album really well.. like it sums it up without words.

Time Capsule is a very bleak ‘end of earth’ type track, which drags you into the darkness of the future and then the Bionic remix is the afterthought with this optimistic ‘there’s-still-hope’ kinda sound to it.

That’s how it made me feel anyway.

^word son! Thats exactly what I felt with that remix!

This album is absofuckinglutely incredible.

As soon as I stopped playing Apocalyptic Doomsday on repeat, I gave Time Capsule another play and damn. What an ill song.

This album helps me NOT go ballistic on people when they give me a big $0.00 tip on an 80+ dollar delivery order or my managers whom I’ve talked with repeatedly about getting more hours for the summer do absolutely nothing with the new work schedule. I don’t know how it achieves such a feat.. but it does. And if I didn’t have it in my car when driving from richfuck who tips shit to richfuck who tips shit, I don’t think I’d still be employed today.

This album is amazing. The bass is booming (seriously those drums!!) been on constant repeat for 4 days now. Proper review coming when i’ve formulated more opinions.

Dear Steph,

You absolutely murdered the hook on Time Capsule.

“I fight for everything I own/
My love for fam, and my first born/
Flesh, tissue, ligaments, and bone/
Can’t contain the blood, sweet, and tears in my soul/
So when they try to question me/
Make attempts to interrupt my destiny, trust/
When I’m dead gone, you’ll remember me/
Whether through a time capsule or a memory.”

WOW.

Mr. Diaz?

I was a huge detractor of T.H.E.Y. I just didn’t feel it, and I was nervous as to how you could hold down an album solo. I can’t even say how much this album impresses me, the amount of growth that you show on this album is mind-blowing.

And finally, to the various producers of this album,

gtfo. You’re all ridiculous. This album has a feel to it, and I can’t put my finger on what it is exactly, but there’s something very…prophetically epic. I just feel like this album is on a whole other level from most other QN5 releases, granted it’s been a few years since some of the other debut albums of QN5 artists, but damn, step it up everyone else…this is the new benchmark.

I must concur with DWilli. I’ve been bumping Time Capsule for an hour now, and the hook hasn’t stopped giving me goosebumps. Seriously, either that or The Balance should be the next single. And yes, it’s been established that Chew-Fu is a beast.

Anyone else digging the way the HAL samples tie the remix into the album instead of letting it just be a “Bonus Track” like it would have been on so many other releases?

And “been a few years” my eye. Sacrifice came out last year, and since that was pretty much Stan’s debut album in the States…well, either way, between the two of them, the bar is definitely set.

Please get this on iTunes so I can link people to The Balance Wink I fucking love it.

Mr. SOS has finally done it. After years of grinding, two promising mixtapes, a great EP and an important place on CunninLynguists sophomore record “Southernunderground” he has realised his debut album, and my god it was worth the wait. With “How I Learned…” SOS has crafted a record which gives any of his QN5 stalwarts a run for their money.

Based on some of the more important points of Stanley Kubrick’s satirical “Dr. Stangelove”, the album mixes black humour with 1984 posturing. SOS knows how it is and he isn’t afraid to say it. Beyond the political and social commentary is, however, an absolute banger. SOS at his best is a raw, emotional lyricist and he demonstrates his skill superbly over drum programming wich would make Miami Bass blush with embarassment.

As individual tracks go, it is hard to top the vicious opener “Apocalyptic Doomsday” which with it’s violent arrangement and vicious rapping sets the tone for the entire LP. The first 20 seconds of “Bionic” are some of the most blissful i’ve ever heard. It’s just something about the synth cords used that set one at total ease. The track however switches up to an absolute hit with an addictive hook.

Elsewhere, the beautiful ode to insomnia and paranoia, “I Can’t Sleep” is an album highlight as is closer “Time Capsule”. The latter contains the most beautiful line of the year:

“The saddest thing I ever learned was relationships dont last,
But the best thing I ever did was let go of the past”.

I’m not even going to talk about “The Balance” as I do not want to do it any injustice. Just listen.

In retrospect, this album may one day be remembered as the start (well kind of) of a talented MC’s career. A career which got out of the traps with near perfect precision as well as an album that fans will revisit for years to come. However, for many of us, this album will mean much more. It will signal the time when a man beared his soul for all to see, and came out the other side immortalised in music.

Nice review, Knowledge!

let me post my 1st feebdack (on a lastm member’s shoutbox (samiha i see u)) :

i gotta say i was a little bit disappointed listenin to these electro beats at the beginning, but after a rotation in my hifi system (i preordered the cd), i feel it. “the balance” is the shit, doooope ! lyrically, production… heavy rotation. i also enjoy “apocalyptic doomsday” and “i can’t sleep”. i’m amazed by the chew fu bionic’s remix, some sort of a ufo right there ^^. i appreciate all the tracks, except save you, don’t feel this atm, but like u i need more listenings Wink.

Hey DWilli707! Thanks, man…I wanted to attack the song as hard as SOS did. Smile

To all the other folks that supported this project, as well as the people that contributed directly - much love to y’all, as well. I’m definitely beyond blessed that I was involved with this extraordinary album; I’m very proud.

This CD is NUTS….my fiance thinks i have a problem cuz its all ive been listening to. The QN5 Megashow was insanity also….thanks to S.O.S. and all the other QN5 artists. Keep it coming
