QN5 Music is mega-proud to announce the release of “RoxTar”- the debut single from Grammy-nominated singer/songwriter/emcee/producer, Kokayi.

As a founding member and lead songwriter of the AfroPunk/Electro/Hip-Hop band, theCaesarz, Kokayi knows his shit when it comes to that ‘ole fashioned rock & roll’ (© Bob Seager). Over this self-produced track, Koke shouts out all purveyors of the hard-rock ethic, name dropping his way to make the point that, indeed, “Everybody wanna be a RoxTar” in 2010. Can you name all the bands he mentions?

Taken from his forthcoming QN5-debut album Robots & Dinosaurs, “RoxTar” is presented in two separate flavors: [THRASH] and [BOUNCE]. We at QN5 understand that some of our less-adventurous listeners may prefer a more traditional hip hop feel to the bombastic thrashing rock drums – so we’ve made both available to let you pick your favorite. Hell, we’ve even included an acapella (rare) for all you production-sluts to make your own version.

Enjoy!

MiC K!NG & Chum“Man Of The Year” – LP: Cool-Aide | [DOWNLOAD THE ALBUM HERE]

Long-time QN5-affiliate and PackFM’s illegitimate cousin MiC K!NG just turned 29 and has decided to treat us instead with a gift of music. Presenting Cool-Aide, a full FREE ALBUM produced entirely by Chum The Skrilla Gorilla. Again, this is a fully-crafted 13-track album – NOT A MIXTAPE.

This is a bit of a surprise move, honestly, as we’ve been hearing about this album for 2 years. Apparently, they ran into some hiccups, but instead of letting it sit on a hard-drive and not doing the world at large any good, they’ve decided to unleash this project for the price of a tweet! That’s right, it’s 100% FREE. All you have to do is click on the link below and tweet/status update about it to get the download link. It’s that simple…and legally-free is quite the great bargain if we do say so ourselves.

Chum and I no longer work together but we did an amazing album and it’s my birthday so I’m giving it to you for free. Well not totally. It’s gonna cost you a tweet or facebook post. Get your copy of MiC K!NG & Chum WERE Cool-Aide now. [READ MORE]

[NEWS] Kokayi To Release Lead Single “RoxTar” On 8.31.10 + Listening Party

Posted 1 week, 3 days, 3 hours, 3 minutes ago by QN5

Kokayi – “RoxTar” Single Drops 8.31.10 | [PHOTO: Chad Griffith]

After much anticipation and months of self-imposed radio silence, Kokayi is set to drop “RoxTar”, the lead single from his forthcoming QN5-album Robots & Dinosaurs, on Tuesday, August 31, 2010. Album artwork, tracklisting & release dates will be announced thereafter.

We’ve been super-mega-extra-busy the past few months getting all the pieces in place and this one’s a doozie. (Hell, we even revamped his MySpace page!) The artwork is amazing, the photography is off the chain, and the music video is set to shoot in the coming weeks. 98% self-produced, self-written, self-hooked, Robots & Dinosaurs is going to kick your ass back to the mat with a fresh new sound that is uniquely ‘Koke’. This is a man of many talents, all of which shine crystalline on this release.

To top it off, that night, everyone in the Washington, D.C. area can roll through to celebrate with Kokayi at the official “RoxTar Unleashed” Single Listening Party! [DETAILS]

We know that many of you are unfamiliar with the Baby Blue’s newest singer/songwriter/emcee/producer, but there are plenty of things you can do in the meantime to get acquainted. Let’s welcome the future in style, y’all!
