[RANT] Getting Our Eric Bana On In Munich

Posted Feb 28 2008

Personally, I don’t see the resemblence.

The difference a day can make.

After going completely over a crowd’s head in Cologne, we kicked off the day with a 4.5 hour drive that turned into an 8 hour drive.

Last night was off the chisel! Not only is Munich a beautiful city, but it also showed love with the livest crowd on the three German shows we’ve done so far – and did so in a SOLD OUT capacity.

The cats from Hilltop Hoods are hysterically funny. Apparently, the whole “Australians do everything bigger/wilder” reputation is well earned, cause them dudes definitely party hard, no question. Shout outs to the whole camp. Hopefully we can connect on some music shit and make our first trek to the outback at some point this year. We arrived just as they hit the stage, and you could ust feel the energy from the door. People were just flippin out. They certainly set it off lovely and left the door wide open for the kid to puppeteer that bitch for the next 25 minutes.

My set definitely went over without a hitch. Crowd-wise, it was a gigantic difference between the crowd in Cologne and the mash out posse in Munich. People here came to rock, regardless of how well they knew the music. There were some Auralarians there as well, which made my day. Just to give you an idea of what I mean…take a look at this clip of “Issawn” from the show last night. [tee-hee]

Also, all through my set and CL’s set, there was a small troop of cats who literally kept yelling “OP-TEE-MIST” for a good hour straight. Sometimes you can’t call which songs folks with connect with most out of your catalogue. So, it was a nice surprise to see so much enthusiasm for some of the new shit. After CL closed with “Seasons” I was given the go ahead to rock “Optimist” to round out the show, and for a crowd as unfamiliar with me as Munich was, it went over beautifully. That hook really does seem to connect with crowds, which is beautiful to watch.

CL tore that shit the fuck down, top to bottom. It was like a bottomless pit of head-nod energy from the second “Valley of Death” dropped till when they closed. I mean, Kno even went in for his first crowd surf! I was hella proud. But now that he’s caught the crowd surfing bug, I know it won’t be the last. That shit is addictive as fuck. PackFM will testify to that.

Also, it seems that Bad Taste Records is pushing “Mexico” something heavy out here in Europe, because it’s quickly becoming a crowd favorite. Already, CL has closed their set with the song 3 times, and people have been singing along with it word for word. I think they just might have a potential hit on their hands.

BTW – I managed to pull some wild tech-guru shit and get my wireless card working again (thank God), now I just need to get better access to the internet and we’ll be good to go with road updates as they happen. I hope all of y’all are doing well back in the states. See you in another week and a half.

Hollerate!
Tone.
