With HUNTER EP (Polymer 3/4) right around the corner, Tonedeff drops off an EXCLUSIVE non-album track to hold us over.
An ode to long-distance relationships in the age of Skype & Facetime, “Holograms” is a complete reworking of M83’s track of the same name. With his seamlessly sung/rhymed vocals drenched in the lush cinematic builds the band is known for, Tonedeff weaves a meticulous tale of frustration and longing – alternating a single rhyme scheme every 8 bars for a sweeping verse of epic proportions.
“I’ve been so swamped with Polymer that my brain needed a slight creative diversion,” Tonedeff explains. “This is a dream-collabo for me and I really wanted to invoke a feeling that matched the music, so I wrote about a scenario that I think a lot of people can relate to. It was a challenge, but I’m really proud of how this one turned out.”
